That could eliminate them from Fukudome..

I'm not so sure. Unless their plan is going Hairston-Bradley-Giles, I think they'd still be interested.

Too bad, but we all know Hendry would never go for him due to his anger problems which is terrible since he would be such and upgrade for us.

Yeah, he's such a problem that San Diego surely didn't want him back. Oh wait......

I think the injuries scared as many teams off as the anger issues.

Wasn't Bradley a Type A free agent?

Wouldn't have mattered. Michael Barrett is the only player they offered arbitration to, I believe.

Milton Bradley-OF-Padres Dec. 7 - 8:02 pm et

Free agent Milton Bradley told the Padres he needs more time to decide whether to accept their one-year, $4 million offer.

Bradley might also have an offer out from the Rangers. He's expected to settle on a team in the next day or two.

Interesting. Too bad Hendry wouldn't go for it

Wasn't Bradley on Hendrys radar before? I thought Hendrys crushes never die.

I don't think so. The last couple times he's been available, this board has wished for him, but there was never any talk that the Cubs were interested.

I thought him and dusty where friends?

Maybe...but agan, I think even that just led to people speculating and not actually any interest by the Cubs. I remember people thinking Dusty's reputation as a "player's manager" might help in dealing with Bradley's exagerrated "troubles," but that was about it.

The Cubs had serious trade discussions with the Los Angeles Dodgers about Bradley in early November, when manager Dusty Baker met with Bradley with Dodgers owner Frank McCourt's permission. But once Los Angeles hired Ned Colletti as its general manager, talks between the clubs weren't nearly as active.

I totally forgot that Bradley and Baker had an actual meeting.

for the love of god just double the padres deal and sign him. 1 year 8 million.

8 million for a guy who may or may not be ready by Opening Day (IMO, it's doubtful he's ready then). It's also an injury where seldom the player is the same until the second year back. Finally, even when you are optimistic about that injury and even if you disregard the character issues, he still has plenty of other injury issues.

The likelihood is that he would only play half the season, and that half would be good but not great production (he's been up and down between being an 820 and a 950 OPS player, and coming off this injury I'd lean much more to the 820 number that is more common for his career). IMO, that isn't worth 8 million dollars.
