I am happy to play Boston College. I dont think they are good enough to blow us out. However we wont be expected to win. So its really a no lose situation for MSU.

As for Michigan/Florida, If Henne and Hart are healthy I think that game will be better than expected. I still think Florida will win. If they arent healthy. Well

I really liked the Big Ten this bowl season to redeem themselves some untill OSU moved up. Now I think they will be lucky to 3.

Hart should be fine by the bowl game. It's Henne I'm worried about. A Mallett-lead team is going to get destroyed by Florida if Henne can't go. He's a tough guy though, so you know he's going to do whatever it takes to play in the game.

Florida's secondary's the weak link. Mallett would be able to move the ball on them decently. Hart will be a non-factor. Even if healthy.

Hart will be a factor, only because Carr is still running the show. It won't matter that Florida's secondary is the weak link. Expect to see a lot of run left in the game.

I'm not excited about the Auburn-Clemson matchup....I understand the matchups were put in place based upon geography, but I'd much rather kick Mizzou's arse in the Cotton.

I didn't say Carr wouldn't run the ball. He just won't have success. The Gators are excellent against the run (Moreno excluded) and they know it's coming, ie they'll stack the line.

i really don't understand why anyone gives a crap about these bowls.

They don't unless their school is playing in them.

Another problem a playoff would solve. A lot of these meaningless bowls that only serve to boost the ego of programs and their fans would become early to mid round playoff games and many people would then have interest in them.

But oh well. We're stuck with this crappy system because a playoff would "take kids away from their schoolwork."

Unless you want to institute a 32 team playoff, then no.

Honestly they should shorten the season to ten games. 8 in conference games for all teams, 2 out of conference games for potential rivalries

they can get 1 game in august for every team. 4 games in september, 4 games in october and 2 games the first week of november most seasons. One week off for everyone before the playoffs and one week of in the middle of the season. That would leave them 1 week in November, a couple weeks off for finals, 2 weeks at the end of december and 2 weeks in early January.

no conference championship games.

if you notice that's 5 weeks of playoffs, 32 teams.

Each league gets one auto-bid. Then have a selection committee pick the remaining what? 20 teams?

you can also have a NIT like tournament, so effectively you have 64 teams making the post season compared to the present 64.

It's a way to give some teams exposure that they normally wouldn't get. If nobody watched these bowls as many people claim, they would be losing money and the NCAA would get rid of them. Instead, they seemingly add a bowl every year so a decent number of people must be watching them.

You're missing my point. I'm saying it won't matter that Florida's secondary is the weakest link because Carr is too stupid or bullheaded to exploit other teams' weaknesses. He goes in with a game plan to run the ball in every game, no matter what the circumstances are. If you watched the OSU/Michigan game at all, that was a perfect example. He kept trying to run left even though OSU stopped them on every down.

As for Wisconsin, I think we match up very well against them. Their defense is nothing special and I feel like Ainge can pick them apart while Arian Foster should have a good game. The defense should handle themselves fairly well, after holding down a better LSU offense.

Both teams are actually eerily similar. The running games are nearly identical, with Foster having slightly better numbers than PJ Hill and the passing games are similar with Ainge being a little more efficient than Tyler Donovan. Ought to be a good game.

I'm looking forward to the Wisconsin-Tenn matchup. Wisconsin's D isn't anything special but they have played pretty well since the Illinois loss. And I wouldn't expect a heavy dose of PJ Hill. PJ was hurt down the stretch this year, which gave Zach Brown and Lance Smith a lot of opportunities. They both made great use of that time, so I fully expect a balanced load between all three backs.

Does anybody really watch any of these?

Yep, pretty much as many as I can.

Yeah, I like watching bowl games.

Meph I am with you on this one. I think they should have a 11 game season. 8 conference games. 1 game against a school from another BCS conference. 1 game against a school from a non-bcs con. These 2 games are scheduled by a NCAA official. 1 wild card game. The wild card game is for independents and rival games that might not fit in with the other 10 games.

Isn't it bad enough Georgia didn't play LSU or Kansas OU or Texas? It just makes the 12 team conferences get even more bids because they could play the bottom feeders and everyone would say how tough their conference is because of it.

what they should do is stop letting teams avoid the other good teams in their conference. Like OU and Texas are pretty much good every year - a team from the Big XII north should have to play at least one of those teams in a season. Same with the Big Ten - nobody should be able to play the entire schedule without facing either Ohio State or Michigan.

Yep. The college football season is way too short, so savor as much of it as you can.

It drives me crazy that this loophole is ignored. If Wisconsin played OSU last year we would have found out more about those teams just like what happened this year. This stupid championship thing has just made more rematches instead of putting teams together that haven't played. You really don't know who's going to be good and if everyone played Michigan this year and not OSU it would have showed us what we needed to know. If Kansas beat OU during the regular season then they would have had a decent argument to be in the BCS.

only works if most of the games are played on campus stadiums. NO WAY schools give up the gate receipts they get from 8 home games. Penn State is going to sell 107,000 tickets when they play Coastal Carolina next year....why would they volunteer to shorten their season?

That's silly. If they used that logic, everybody in the Big XII south would've played Nebraska or Colorado. None of these programs are guaranteed to be good.

The imbalanced schedule is a problem, but that's not a solution.

It's looking highly likely that I won't be going as media to the International Bowl, so I'll probably just go and have fun. There's more than a few people I know who are interested in going and tickets are dirt cheap so it's a fairly reasonable trip.

it's not like Kansas chose to not play good conference teams. that's scheduled by the conference

also, who doesn't love the Holiday Bowl? every year they pretty much guarantee a combined score of 80+, and this year is probably no exception

nebraska and colorado haven't been very good in recent years. texas and oklahoma have.

Maybe not but they did choose to play 4 horrible non conference teams.

What does that have to do with anything? They still played a weak schedule and got rewarded for it.
