What kind of play call was that on 4th and 2? Why not kick the field goal?

It was curious, but I guess Mangino is thinking that VT could still win by 1 with 2 TDs. 28-27. Not to mention the fact that VT is about due for a blocked kick and a Kansas TD wins the game.

Still, if you go for it, why not try a quick slant or something that can get you a first down. Unless it was just a bad read by Reesing.

hahaha kansas finally gets the quality win we've all been wondering if they could.

theyve finally shown that they can win against the big boys.

I still think Missouri was much more deserving of this spot, but that's the crappy BCS for you.

They were. Before tonight there was little reason to believe Kansas could beat a top 15 team.

As a K-State fan, even though I didn't like it, but congratulations on winning the Orange Bowl. At least that makes it up of OU's embarrasment aganist WVU. Way to represent Big XII today, Kansas.

Just shows the parity in College Football. All 10 BCS teams were at least close to deserving (Hawaii and Illinois very fringe, but gotta give em a chance) as was Mizzouri add 1 more team (AZ State, Texas, Florida???) and you've got yourself one hell of a 12-team playoff.

Not that Va Tech isn't a top-15 team, but I think they're near the bottom of that. Sagarin had them fifth, I realize, but only eleventh in the predictor. I find their resume unimpressive for such a highly ranked team; wins at Clemson and Virginia are nice, and they did split with BC. But the ACC is weak (2-6 in bowls I believe, for what that's worth) and Va Tech was destroyed at LSU. We might have found out more about Va Tech in this game than we did Kansas.

Edit: But congrats to Kansas, 12-1 and an Orange Bowl victory is quite impressive regardless.

I would say that the Big XII had a very good bowl season, and an OU win away from an outstanding bowl season.

This is a very good point - the best team Va Tech played this year demolished them and now they look bad losing to probably the second best team they've played.

Not taking anything away from Kansas, though. This is a very good win.

Almost all teams at least showed up, except OU. Well, except their band showed up, but that's just about it.

congrats to kansas i guess. they played a pretty good game. although in the end its nice knowing in the greatest season in ku's history Mizzou gave them their only loss. to that i say HAHA!

I'm so glad we won this game. Really legitimizes this season.

My observations:

We didn't play our best but still won. That says a lot.

We're still a few legit lineman (on both sides) from being great.

I agree with the idea that Talib won't cut it at CB in the NFL unless he learns to gamble less. But he's a very good tackler, despite what someone said, and he's fast and big. He can make it at CB if he tightens his game. Otherwise, he'll be a good safety

i'm glad Scott Webb (FG kicker) is graduating.

V Tech had the best defense we've played, but overall Mizzou was easily a better team than them.

The announcers kept saying ST won the game for us. I thought we broke even on ST (FG kick blocked, fake punt for us, TD and big returns for them). It was the D that won it.

Aqib felt like Deion on that play! Like Deion!

eh, that was me on the poor tackling. again, ive only watched him against mizzou twice, and he probably missed a few tackles so that's where i got that from. usually notice the bigger plays over the fundamental plays anyways, like a missed tackle for a big gain rather than a couple of plays where he makes the tackle (if that sentence makes any sense at all). anyways congrats on the win.

Impressive win by ku, but how the hell did VT make it this far with those tow clowns at QB?

The ACC says hello.

Even with all of my criticisms against the Big 10 this year, I always thought it was a better conference than the ACC. And the ACC has been bad for a couple years now.

That still sounds good to me.

Congrats on the win. Great season for you guys.

Thanks. They couldn't have done it without me.

Another thing about Talib is that he bites on the double move a lot. I think that's part of his "overaggressiveness."

My feeling RE his CB skills are that he won't be a "shut down" guy in the NFL. He'll be serviceable. And NFL guys are very high on him, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about and he'll be better than that. But just thinking back, when he faced surefire NFL guys (Purify from Neb, Nelson from KSU, the Mizzou guys), he wasn't a lock-down guy. He did do a nice job on Bowman from OSU before Bowman got injured, though. HE did a nice job tonight, too (except when he got burned on the double move), but I don't know how highly regarded VaTech's reveivers are.

People said Mizzou would kill USC? I know for a fact we wouldn't even beat USC, but we would've done better than that.

USC is better than OK, and we all know how well Mizzou fared against OK.

No they arent.

Opinion changed at all?

I still think OU and USC are around the same talent-wise. Could you be any more smug?

How is asking you a damn question being smug? :-k i asked if your opinion had changed thats it, my God. I guess I should have just did what SSR did and laugh my ass off at your statement, since that didnt even bring a response.
