It's amazing to me that in a season where there were a ton of upsets, people on this site are still saying what WILL happen.

What is with the hate for Illinois? The Rose Bowl winner will not win the national championship, but each team will share $17 million with their conference. I could see if Illinois was preventing another team from winning the national championship, but under the rules they are eligible to play in a BCS game. The only other school who could've gotten a Rose Bowl berth is Arizona State and that would be stupid to make the Rose Bowl another conference game.

Oh and by the way, its being reported the Illini have landed Jarred Fayson. Yes the same Florida Gator Jarred Fayson, hes apparently transferring, and if reports out of Florida are correct, hes decided to join the Illini. Fayson was rated a 5 star by the way, and he runs a meager 4.4 40. I love Zook.

man, you jerk, you beat me to it.

:P Hey I dont care who reports something like this. I love it

Add this to the Bears re=signing Briggs, and its been a good day.

word is that it hasn't happened yet. :(

Technically, Arizona State wouldn't have to go to the Rose Bowl to be in the BCS. They could have picked teams like WV, Hawaii, and either Kansas or Missouri go to the Rose Bowl, and then Arizona State could have gone to one of the other bowls. Remember, the Rose Bowl picked first, so they had their choice of any at-large team.

At the same time, I'm not trying to argue that Illinois shouldn't have been picked over Arizona State. Their resumes aren't all that different, and I don't think it's a great problem whichever team made it over the other one.

What has two thumbs and just booked his flight/hotel to Pasadena?

What hotel are you staying at? In Pasadena?

Ha, had no chance at that. Staying in Orange County. We're debating whether we're gonna sleep on the parade route or not. Where can I find the celebrities in the OC?

That guy!

I love that Illinois is basically in a no-lose situation. Everyone expects them to get blown out, so they can only impress.

People who think Illinois is going to get blown out either just hate Illinois or they don't follow Illinois or both. We were being blown out just once this season and it was the first game of the season. And we ended up losing by just 4. USC is playing well right now, but did anybody watch the USC/UCLA game? USC didn't look all that dominating to me. They looked much better against Arizona St. to me.

If there was a Pac Ten vs Big Ten challenge in football, how many games do you think the Big Ten would win of the following? Maybe two or three, like they do in basketball vs the ACC.

OSU vs. USC

Illinois vs. ASU

Mich vs. Oregon State

Wisc vs. UCLA

Penn State vs. Oregon

Iowa vs. Arizona

Indiana vs. Wash State

Mich state vs. Stanford

Purdue vs. California

Northwestern vs. Washington

Indiana vs. Best High school team in California

Seriously? The Big 10 might win every one of those. I'd probably give the Pac 10 2 wins.

seriously.

let's see, stanford: terrible, california: can't beat anyone, oregon: terrible, ucla: lost to notre dame at home, wash st: coach just got fired for being bad, arizona: bad, washington: average, usc: lost to stanford.

i actually think that minnesota could beat stanford, oregon, wash st., and maybe arizona--and minnesota was unbelievably bad.

What teams outside of the Big 10 did your league beat this year that were BCS over 500 teams? Cal beat Tenn, Oregon beat....Michigan by how much? This at a quick glance and UCLA beat a top 20 BYU.

Yeah but none of those teams had to play mighty Appalachian State.

Cal and Oregon today look nothing like Cal and Oregon from week 2. They'd both get rolled. UCLA hasn't had a 100% not awful QB since the ND game.

Of those games I think Zona beats Iowa, USC beats OSU, and maybe Washington beats NU.

Glenbard North would probably massacre them then.

Agree. Maybe even lowly Brother Rice could give them a game.

well, you got me there, but incidentally, the b10 is 2-1 against the pac-10 this season.

Ohio State (1st Big 10) beat Washington (last Pac 10) 33-14 at Washington

Wisconsin (4th Big 10) beat Washington State (8th Pac 10) 42-21 at Wisconsin. Wisconsin only led 28-21 after 3 quarters.

Oregon (4th Pac 10 but probably would have been in the top-2 had Dixon not gotten hurt) beat Michigan (2rd Big 10 since they beat Illinois) 39-7 at Michigan. Were also up 32-7 at halftime.

To make a blanket statement like you did is misleading. In the only game between teams who finished around in the same spot in their conferences (in Oregon's case I'm using them as a top 2 in the Pac-10 which they were when Dixon was healthy), the Pac-10 team blew the Big-10 team right out of their own stadium.

Ouch.

You don't "sleep" on the parade route. It's a blast...and you'll enjoy the wussy Californians freaking out about being out all night in 30-something weather. And it should be an easy way to get to the game early, especially if you're staying from the OC.

You're probably going to be the biggest celebrity staying in the OC. Hopefully ABC will pan over to you during the game and wonder why you aren't practicing with the Patriots.

Only at Disneyland. Take a right at the Magic Kingdom and ask for Mickey.

I'm thrilled for your school. What bugs me is this tie in with the Big 10/Pac 10. It rewards teams from being in a certain conference and not for being deserving. Illinois was in a pool of teams that qualified to go, I don't deny that. It's the guarantee that the Big 10 got another team in that bothers me.

Rose Bowl tickets sold out in less then a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're telling me that they "may" release more later. You can only buy 2 at a time and 4 per household. I guess I'll keep checking in with Ticketmaster because I'm not paying $400+ per ticket when they're $135 face value.

They saw you Cub/Illini fans from a mile away! Hey, if these guys will pay a ton of money for some winter convention surely they will pay a fortune for some Rose Bowl tickets.

Is face $135?? I thought I read 175. That'd be nice. Especially if I can sell the other 2 for 400 apiece.

It's $135 plus fees. I'm not sure how much the Ticketmaster fees are.

The cheapest I've found is StubHub and they have a few tickets at $398. Sideline tickets are going for $700 - $1000 per.
