especially since it was a somewhat meaningless game. the packer will have to actively try to miss a first round bye in the NFC playoffs (unless Favre's arm falls off in the next 10 days)

I don't agree with that. I think the loss all but guarantees the Pack will need to come to Dallas to get to the Super Bowl, and I think that's an impossible task for them. Sitting here in late November, it looks to me that the Packers' SB hopes were just dealt a pretty critical blow.

According to this, Woodson and KGB wasn't even close to playing last night.

Both players, listed as questionable Wednesday by coach Mike McCarthy, didn't even try to warm up with injuries suffered on Thanksgiving against Detroit.

Woodson missed his first game for Green Bay with a toe injury.

"It was cut and dried," Woodson said. "I knew it wasn't going to happen."

Woodson wouldn't say for certain that he would be able to return for the Oakland game in nine days.

"It's a lot of time," he said. "We'll see what happens."

Yeah, I just saw that quote. Interesting. Seeing how we're playing the Raiders next week and the Rams (possibly without Bulger) in two weeks, it would make sense if we just let him rest and heal up for the playoffs.

We'll see. It's always tough to beat a team twice in a season. I don't think going into Dallas is impossible at all. Especially if we're at full strength.

It really wasn't that bad of loss for Green Bay. They could have burried their heads in the sand when they got down early, but they fought back, and hey, maybe this Aaron Rodgers kid can play? I see no reason why they couldn't beat Dallas in Dallas, should the 2 teams meet again in the playoffs.

How about because the Packers have been down there 9 times with Favre, and are 0-9? At least that's what they said on the broadcast last night.

It's true. Favre has never won in Dallas.

I was a little dissapointed that Dallas didn't put the game away sooner. That's something they need to be able to do, and it's something they've struggled to do this year. Of course, if TO doesn't toss an easy touchdown catch into the hands of the defender, then the Cowboys would have done just that.

Why does Julius Jones take away so many carries from Marion Barber? I really don't care for the Cowboys at all, but damn when I watch Barber run....I personally think he is a top 5 RB in the NFL. He is fun to watch.

Just like how Favre was undefeated when the temperature was less than 34 degrees and we had the Falcons at home in the playoffs when it was freezing. We all know what happened then.

Yeah, Michael Vick raped the Pack's defense.

You aren't really going to argue that a Packer failure that broke a weather trend is the same thing as winning a game in a building where the Pack has never won, against a version of the opponent that is better than any version the Pack has ever faced in that building? Are you?

I like this year's Cowboys team, but I'm not sure if they are better than the Aikman-Smith-Irvin version.

Well -- latter day version, sure they are. The Pack weren't really a winning club until mid-late '90s, of course they were going to lose to the Boys in the early '90s.

Some players and teams just don't fare well in some stadiums. I don't think it's irrelevant at all.

Did you watch Favre last night? Did that look like the same player you've seen the rest of the year? O.K. then. He doesn't play well in that building. I can't tell you scientifically why, but 3 times is a charm. 9 times? That's called a trend.

I think it also depends on how good the Cowboys are when he's playing them. If they were 5-11 and still beating him there I'd say heck yeah it's a problem for him but if they always have a very good team then maybe not as much.

because Favre has had the exact same team/coaches in each of the last 9 meetings, and the Cowboys have been exactly the same team each time too

Rodgers looked flat out better than Favre, at least for those two drives. I know he's not, but he got the Packers back to doing what they have been successful with for the entire year.

Aaron Rodgers' style looked nearly identical to Romo's.

He looked real good last night. Made a few plays with his legs which had the Dallas defense on their heels in the 2nd half. All throughout training camp, he was heralded as the Packers' most improved player and last night, he showed that he can be effective.

Those 9 losses for the Pack came in:

2 in 93 (Dallas won the title)

2 in 94 (Dallas 12-4, Green Bay 9-7)

2 in 95 (Dallas won the title)

1 in 96 (GB won the title)

1 in 99 (both 8-8)

Those are the 8 I can find during Favre's tenure before last night. As you can see, 6 of them were in Dallas's glory days. The game in 96 was the only game in the entire Favre tenure that you can say that Green Bay had a better team in (and Dallas was still pretty good and playing at home).

That 0-9 in Dallas Stadium means pretty much nothing when 7 of the 9 games were over 10 years ago, and 6 of the 8 games during the 90's were against the great Dallas dynasty. Home field advantage doesn't mean all that much for Dallas. If GB is going to lose, it will be because they failed to cover the pass like they did last night.

Posted

Yeah, they still couldn't do it even when they had the biggest powerhouse of a football team they've seen in GB since the Lombardi days.

Not sure what the defense will do in January. They might be a little better at covering the pass. I like GB's defense overall. But it won't be Rodgers coming in and settling down the situation. It'll almost certainly be Favre for the whole game, and much as I do think he's one of the best ever, this place just seems to have his number.

i'm betting my first and last game of the year.

cincy at pittsburgh, over/under of 43.5. the weather is going to be terrible during the day, so the field will be wet, and during the game there will be a moderate to heavy rain with temperatures in the 40s. by late in the game a cold front should be through, with winds picking up.

Now watch as my forecast is completely right and the game ends up being 38-34 anyway.
