Let's assume for the moment we get Fukudome. Where does he bat? 1st? 2nd? 5th? 6th?

CF Pie

RF Fukudome

1B Lee

3B Ramirez

LF Soriano

C Soto

2B DeRosa

SS Theriot

That seems to be the best available.

Pie won't hit first, but I agree Fukudome looks to be our 2 hitter.

Pie would be the worst person to lead off.

Hyperbole. He might not be ready this year, but he did have a career .358 OBP in the minors.

I don't know about worst, but yeah not a good idea right now. He may end up their in a couple years and excell, but it would be a bad idea to have him there this year.

This thread amazes me.....25+ pages about a potential rumored signing and its NOT about Adam Dunn.

Just wait if the Cubs don't get Fuku!

Does that mean that we will be fukued?

I had no idea who else to put at leadoff. Theriot? No. Soriano? I'd prefer him out of the leadoff spot. I guess you could go with a Fukudome-DeRosa 1-2 punch.

Dusty on ESPN2

"We just signed that Japanese guy with the name I probably shouldn't say on tv to spite the Cu- I mean to get some more left handed hitting on our ballclub"

Dusty surprsingly hasn't mentioned fishing or horses yet

I look forward to the conversations with my friends who are Reds fans. Seriously, they have no idea what they're in for.

And he was actually talking about playing young guys like Phillips and Edwin E. and the like

I did a double take. I had to make sure it was Dusty talking

Dusty has always talked of playing young guys.

I am leaving work in like 15 minutes, I want Fuku to be signed by the time I get home. 1 hour.

Get it done Jim!

You work for one hour?

He said he's leaving work in 15 minutes, not leaving for work

No, he's about to head home from work. He'll actually be home in an hour.

Exactly, been there...done that. Or not done that I should say.

Rookies are like tadpoles. You want them to succeed in feeding, so their parents put them in situations they can succeed in. "See that tad over there, that's my boy. I put him by that seaweed so he can feed better over there." Thats like putting in Bellhorn to face a righty so that when he succeeds we know he caught that food.

For those who maybe aren't following the Teahen thread I thought I'd post Bruce's latest comment

Bruce,

On the Kosuke thread, theyre saying that someone threw a big offer at Fukudome,Perhaps the Cubs?, and he's going to make a desiscion today..Hear anything about this?

Not yet. I'll find out by 5:30 when we meet with Jim. I've put in calls about the White Sox on this matter, too. The Tigers gave them a little ouchie yesterday.

So you can be at ease, the Bruce signal WAS seen. :D

My money is officially on the White Sox. They'll will give him the money they were going to give Hunter.

Not funny. =;

I would say without a doubt. A division "rival" just pulled off a huge trade that maybe makes them the team to beat in the league and they (the white sox) possibly have some money laying around that had been set apart for a guy that could play CF. All of a sudden a "substantial" offer gets tossed out.
