Taylor Battle drove the lane into traffic and as he went up, the ball went flying. it was tough to say from the replay if he lost the ball on his own or if he got fouled, but at real speed, the call HAD to be made.

So is anyone getting the Memphis game? Was Chris Douglas-Roberts really fouled or was this another cheapy?

 

From the replay, I'm kind of shocked it was called. He was driving down the lane with his arm out and the defender backpedeling. He withdrew his arm, spun, and the defender fell down from the slight bit of contact and the backpedeling. The official blew the whistle, and he made the shot.

 

It wasn't an absolutely awful blocking call, but it was definitely questionable IMO, and definitely something that you never see at that point in the game.

IU is beating the piss out of MSU, even without DJ White

This is pretty clearly the best IU has played all year. This is also pretty clearly the worst MSU has played all year. I'm the biggest arguer you'll find about people whining about their teams having bad games at the wrong time(when in fact teams have bad games often because of the team they're playing), but my God MSU has just given this game away from about 8 minutes into the game on. I've never seen a team turn the ball over so often on alley oop attempts.

the game was a coin flip. it came down to free throws, and PSU went 14/18 while UofI went 5/10. seems to be a trend with the Illini (though PSU lost a game or two due to poor FT shooting as well)

Vitale's been hammering Indiana, Sampson, and Greenspan this entire game. Wonder what his take would be if not for RMK's history there. He's usually a unapologetic fanboy for just about every coach anywhere. He's not even trying to hide his contempt for Sampson.

Honestly, he's been hammering IU for 7 years on every telecast. It got a little worse when Sampson became the coach, but it wasn't pretty with Davis either. Tonight has been just more of the same rhetoric with him.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but the game was well in hand for IU throughout the later stages of the 2nd half.

I agree with Bilas and others, I think it is a done deal nad Sampson knows it. The 7-day thing is just to make sure if they fire him they are not on the hook for the rest of the cash he is owed.

I think a hell of a lot of Izzo as a coach, but he's really had some underachieving teams lately in my opinion.

Sampson is as good as gone. I wonder who the next coach will be. Has there been any speculation yet?

I think it will be Dakich, at least for the rest of this year. I think he may have been brought in as an assistant specifically for this possibility. The violations discovered during the offseason may have made seem evident that a change during the season might be needed, so they wanted to have a replacement on board.

Sampson's gone. IU is crossing all the t's and dotting all the i's. I don't know enough about Greenspan's history to make a decision, but I know my sister and brother (also IU alums) are after his head.

Who else did they pursue? I can't remember. I seem to remember them just picking Sampson out of the blue.

 

What I don't understand is why they can't get a top line coach. I mean, I suppose possible sanctions could be a deterrent, but it's one of the premier programs in the country, and you don't even have big shoes to fill anymore. After Davis and K-Sanc, as long as you don't burn down Assembly Hall, people will be happy.
