Georgetown 57, Ball State 48. The Cardinals had it as low as 6, with the ball, with 2 minutes left, without their best player, Anthony Newell, who fractured a bone in his foot yesterday in practice and will miss the rest of the out of conference schedule. The Cardinals gave everything they had. The healing process continues from the Ronny Thompson Era...for all that was written and said about the Thompsons' return to Muncie, it came down to simply being a great basketball game, with 4300-some fans cheering their butts off for a great group of guys.

Are you making the trip to DeKalb on Saturday for the football game?

We were going to be there to broadcast the game, but NIU's incompetent SID apparently didn't even know we were coming or our incompetent sports director didn't tell them we were (pick a target). Anyway, long story short, we can't broadcast, so I will not be there. Luckily it is on Comcast Sportsnet so I can still watch. Are you going?

Syracuse vs Ohio State tonight, this ought to be a very tough game for us.

I'm going to watch this game...there will be a lot of young talent on the floor.

They were way better than us. As I said earlier, we better step it up defensively or this is going to happen quite often. I hope this wakes these kids up and hopefully history repeats itself as this happened to us in 2003 against Memphis.

Yeah, I'm back up here now so I'm going to go with some friends. It doesn't surprise me that NIU has an incompetent SID. They have a ton of things within that are incompetent.

Wait, so what's the deal with Randle?

they were saying "lower leg contusion" during the game yesterday...got kneed in the calf, but that's all i know.

Well, have fun watching the next great MAC QB in person. :)

Basically the only reason I'm going is to see Nate Davis play. He's going to have some fun tearing up NIU's defense.

He bumped knees with another player, its no big deal. He could have played in the 2nd half, but wasnt needed. Hes fine.

UC Davis got its first win over a DI opponent of the year after wins over a DII and DIII team. They improved to 3-2 on the year and are half way to surpassing their win total of five from last year.

SIU defeats Chattanooga 63-41 in the 1st round of the Anaheim Classic. Very impressed with our defense today. Chattanooga put up a lot of points on Indiana and we held them to barely over 40 points. Falker scored 21 and had 8 boards. Probably the best thing about his performance was his improved shooting at the free throw line.

Next up are the Bulldogs of Mississippi State tomorrow afternoon. Should be a good test for us. Winner--most likely--gets USC on Sunday night.

The Mike Beasley show about to be on ESPN2 right now.. :)

Makes for a nice end to a wonderful Thanksgiving.

K-State is melting down against George Mason. Ed Hightower is making sure that there's a whistle every 30 seconds or so, and Bill Walker just freaked out and got himself T'ed up and fouled out in one fell swoop. From what I can gather, Beasley looks like a great player, but K-State is a pretty undisciplined team. Mason leads by 10 with 4 to play.

A loss for this team is good early. Beasly is dominant, and Walker was absolutely terrible tonight. We need a HEALTHY Hoskins, Walker to get his head out of his ass, and this team will be good come January.. Stewart and Young were also terrible tonight. I love this team, and this early loss should help in the future. George Mason is a VERY disciplined team. Hoskins being out hurts a LOT. Also having Dominique Sutton join this team in a couple weeks is HUGE. I look for them to mature a lot as the year goes on, and be a top 3 team in the Big 12.. or so I hope! :) Edited by tadowdaddy

I can't believe people didn't see this coming (I don't mean you, and I don't mean necessarily against George Mason). K-State isn't going to be a top-25 team this year. Maybe if they still had Huggins.

Honestly, I was surprised when I saw them in the preseason Top 25. Of course, at that time I was still under the impression that Beasley was a 6-4 guard for some reason, but still. I think they sold their soul to keep that recruiting class, so to speak. I don't think Martin is up to the task of high-major college coach.

I agree completely. Martin will turn out to be a big mistake. Keeping together one recruiting class is never a sufficient reason to hire a coach. It's myopic.

You guys are nuts! Wait til Sutton gets here in 2 weeks and Hoskins is back.. Without Hoskins, we're missing a key piece of this team. He was 2nd team all Big 12 last year. He adds a whole new piece to this team. Sutton will be another HUGE freshman influence. Sutton, Hoskins, Beasley, and a decent night from Walker makes this a whole different team. What we started tonight was a bunch of inexperience. I don't disagree that Martin needs to be more vocal, but we're fine. I really am one that does think a loss for this young of a team this early in the year is good. Add in our missing pieces, and we're fine. I for one am thinking that keeping Martin to keep the recruiting class was a good move. You all may change your minds come January... We'll make freshmen mistakes and lose a few we shouldn't, but we'll also win some big games. Mark my word. That being said, I do miss Cartier Martin.

Hell.. look at what Martin has already layed out for 2009.. I know they haven't "signed" yet, but these commits are great to have this early...

I don't doubt you'll win some big games. Too much talent not to, but that's not much of a goal. K-State won't be as good as you think they will. If I had to guess I'd say they'll be playing in an 8-9 game, but it wouldn't surprise me if they completely imploded. They are young, immature and have a coach that doesn't command respect. That's a terrible recipe. Keeping a coach for one recruiting class is a huge gamble and almost without fail a terrible mistake.

Talent is only half the battle. I don't know much about Martin, perhaps he is a good coach. If not, you'll soon realize how little 4 stars means with no one to coach.
