leave the poor guy alone.

I agree. I wonder if he still listens to the Cubs? I hope so.

Didn't ESPN do a thing on him a few years ago where one of their reporters was able to talk to him after following him around for a couple of weeks? If I recall coreectly he talked about them beating the Red Sox 2 of 3 in 04 with them.

Good and thanks.

I think it's safe to say that Bartman is self-aware enough to stay out of the limelight until the drought is completely over. Personally, I really hope the guy becomes a non-story as soon as possible, for his sake. I also hope that if he were really invited to sing, that he would turn it down simply so the media doesn't have another reason to mention him. The first game of the playoffs hasn't even started, and no national media outlet can go two sentences covering the Cubs without saying Bartman.

I would love to see him get to do it if the Cubs win a WS in his lifetime. He deserved none of the crap he's had hurled at him and I think it would be a great little gesture to put those championship-less years behind the whole general image of the team. If they win it this year, he should be tossing out the first pitch the first game of next season.

it sure is going to be awesome when we're up 5-0 in the third game after winning the first two games and then bartman sings and the series completely turns

Yeah I'd invite him back to Wrigley after we go to the World Series.

Although part of me thinks it would be really, really awesome if he sang the stretch and everyone gave him a good, long standing ovation.

BTW that article is awesome, how did I miss that? He's a good guy, still a die hard Cub fan like any of us. Even becoming the scapegoat for an entire season can't knock the Cubs out of your blood.

Or when we are losing 11-0 in the 3rd game after losing the first 2. Imagine how well Bartman would be received in Wrigley.

LOL, yeah that would just be so surreal and amazing though. But in a bad, bad way.

I agree with the assessment that Bartman shouldn't be signing, not becuase I have anything aganist him (which I don't)

I think a wiser route would be to get the big names in the old days of the Cubs to do the honors (Santo, Williams, Sandberg, etc etc) Heck, if there are some guys alive on the Cubs team in 1945, bring them along.

I think it would be a great thing to do is to pay our tributes to the old Cubs team, especially in '45.

I'd personally cheer and sing along with him, but I know that most drunken idiot Cubs fans will boo him. He shouldn't do it if he doesn't want this soul crushed even more than it is already.

-I don't see him accepting

-I can't imagine him not being booed mercilessly.

-If he accepts, I pray to God that the Cubs aren't losing/don't blow a lead

This is a bad idea with great intentions.

That would be incredible, but I don't see it happening. This has bad idea written all over it. By the way, has anyone other than some random Boston radio station mentioned this? Seems weird that someone in Boston would know about it, and no one else.

Sounds like he's pretty much risen above it all, but yeah he shouldn't accept. I don't think he will.
