I hope the Cubs win and the Brewers lose in the estimated time so the Cubs will be able to clinch and not publicly celebrate. They don't deserve to.

I dont remember who posted this, so thanks to whoever it was.

But anyway, listen to this, and remember how excited and happy we were not too long ago against these very Reds. Keep the faith.

*raises hand* No problem.

Man, what a soap dropping week that was.

I'm staying as pessimistic as possible just in case, but the last time Arroyo started against the Cubs, David Weathers entered the game in the 9th with a 2-run lead, Theriot walked to lead off the inning and... well, you remember the rest.

Every one of these games are going to be gut wrenching, last minute comeback wins.

Go Cubbies, I'm feeling some sort of mystical energy here. Everything is coming together when you close your magic number by 2 games and you got swept in a division.

Matchups for Cubs pitchers (starters and relievers) look a lot better without Griffey, Dunn, and Hamilton. If only Hopper, Keppinger and Phillips would get hurt too.

How cute, someone still believes.

A man after my own heart. Enough of this nonsense. Today the Cubs will show that they are the equals of the Mets; or in case you didn't know they choked their way out of sole possession of first place.

Great thread. Feeling the positivity.

I rationalized that the Cardinals backed in to the playoffs last year, as did Detroit, who got in as the Wild Card after blowing a huge division lead. Their post season turned out ok.

As you might be aware, the Cards aren't the Cubs. The Cubs don't do those kinds of suprisingly good things.

Can we at least assume foul balls are going to be called foul and the strike zone is not going to change from pitch to pitch?

you say this as if the zone changes pitch to pitch as opposed to the way it actually changes, half inning to half inning.

You're right, I over exaggerated, it does change half inning to half inning.

If Z gets punked by these mini-Reds, I'm gonna blow up something.

I'm gonna go out and put some M-80's in a bird's nest full of chicklings.

Think of the chicks, Cubs.

A huge part of me hopes they clinch tonight just to get it over with and know they're in...but a small part of me wants them not to because if they don't I'm headed to Cinci tomorrow morning.
