I notice the ND updates suddenly stopped when they started coming back in the second half :D

Good win for Purdue. ND gets better and better every game, but they are still very likely to start 0-8. They still make way too many mistakes to beat any quality team. Getting within a TD of Purdue after starting down 23-0 is nice, missing extra points left and right is not.

As for the Golden Tate thing that you were asking about earlier dew, you should watch the highlights of this game. He is an amazing deep threat and made 3 absolutely great catches today for huge gains.

I turned the channel and was watching the UConn game. What was the final score?

33-19. Notre Dame drove down the field a few times and got the lead to 26-19 with 7 minutes left in the game. Purdue added an insurance TD, and then Sharpley threw an INT in the red zone after ND had driven down there with about 3 1/2 minutes left that sealed the game.

The total yards between the two teams was actually close for the first time all season. Purdue had 441 yards to ND's 431 yards.

Really? Wow, I turned it when it was 23-6. Those are some positive steps for you guys.

Just got back from the Illinois game, WOOO WHAT AN EXPERIENCE.

Helluva game, our defense definitely came up and got away with some poor plays with some great picks.

Our offense pretty much disappeared in the second half, but [expletive] I'm so excited for Arrelious Benn, great Td reception where he somehow got away from 4 players and a wonderful kick return.

Our special teams was dissapointing in that we couldn't come up with a good punt all game. How hard is it to punt the ball >30 yards? It could have cost us the game.

Wow, what a game, amazing to see the players run into the stands, I really wanted to storm the field but there were cops all over teh stands.

Purdue has a bad defense. They gave up 28 points in one half to Minnesota last week.

Oh believe me, I know how bad their D is. In any normal year, that would be a bad performance. This year, the game was a lot better than the other 4 have been. ND showed they have some offensive players who are going to be good (Tate, Kamara, Clausen before he left with an injury was good). With how bad they have played so far this season, I think most fans are just looking for any signs of life, and they showed that today.

I'm glad Indiana decided to go back to James Hardy today. They have to feed him the ball because he's easily their biggest playmaker.

congrats to Illinois. That game was very winnable for Penn State, but unfortunately they have Anthony the Turnover Machine Morelli at QB, so that wasn't going to happen. There are very few QBs I've seen who have awareness and decision-making as poor as him. I'm ready for the Pat Devlin era to begin about, say, two weeks ago. But oh wait we'll get another 7 games of Morelli, then the Daryl Clark crapfest in 2008.

Not to take anything away from Illinois - they're a pretty good team and should definitely make the Alamo Bowl, if not one of the bigger (Outback/Crapitol One) bowls. PSU is just a better team, IMO, with the exception of the most important position on the field.

I'm not sure who was the worse QB on the field, Juice or Anthony Morelli. Fortunately for Illinois, they figured they should just run the ball all of the second half, and Penn State just kept passing.

I really miss those games like that and being on campus.

Hm, looks like the UT staff may have missed on him.

Not looking foward to that. I want Pat Devlin now.

Disappointing, though a lot of credit should go to Illinois. I had a feeling we might lose. We shoulda won, we are the better team overall, but Illini played better today.

Did Juice get benched or did he get hurt?

I think McGee needs to be the starting QB.

It was a really well fought out win. It seemed like on first down you guys always had a big rushing play and then would follow up with a few incompletions. The game plan was poor.

Juice...his statline looked pretty bad, and he made some real boneheaded plays, and honestly I don't like the gamecalling for him. Lots of drop offs and screens, and nothing that takes advantage of his arm strength. One of his picks was off a receivers hands, another was one of the absolute dumbest plays i've seen a football player make.

Our d-line got no pressure, by all rights with a better QB you coulda picked us to pieces. So many balls my Morelli should have been picked but our Db's wouldn't turn their heads.

I don't know if I buy that PSU is that much more talented than U of I. We have some serious speed.

I'm pretty sure he was benched.

McGee did go 0-3, but he had a huge 58 yard run that might have clinched the game.

Great choke job today. The offensive line just went to hell in the 4th quarter and the offense did a great job of giving the game away. That was a must win and they blew it despite taking it to Michigan all game long.

Ball State pounds the crap out of Buffalo 49-14 and rolls up over 450 yards of offense for the 4th week in a row. Would've been 56-14 but they took a knee inside the Buffalo 10 to end it. Man, it is fun to watch them. They were up 28-0 a few minutes into the 2nd quarter before letting off the gas a bit.

Northwestern lost?

God damnit guys.

They need to step it up in the MAC and not just lose those close games to tough teams. What grade is that QB of yours?

Did Henne lead the comeback or did Mallett?

Well, he's got 14 TDs and 2 interceptions this year, and one of those INTs was tipped, and he's thrown for about 1400 yards in 5 games.

If we play like we have the last two weeks, we really should win out and go 10-2, including Illinois and Indiana.

I think Illinois is as good or better than Nebraska and it may depend on how beat up Indiana is when you play them.

Henne played decently in the second half, but there was no "comeback." Northwestern turned it over in their own territory on 4 consecutive possessions in the 4th quarter. The game was handed to them.

I guess the moral victory is that I don't believe Michigan fans outnumbered us this time.

Thank God the Cubs clinched yesterday or I'd be so G darn pissed right about now

You still follow Rutgers or is that off since you've gone to PSU?

Still follow Rutgers

Did a lot of your friends decide to go there? They had a little debate about Rutgers going big time in sports I see.

What was the score when they decided to do that? Your program just hasn't been the same since your coach died.

good luck with that one. i'm not saying illinois will win, but assuming illinois, who should be in the top 25 after today, is an automatic win is ridiculous.

well, fortunately, that game was a very winnable game for illinois, too.
