Cox did not manage that 8th inning well.

Yeah after he got away with two ropes for outs, then the two big guys get hits, it might have been a good time to go to your pen.

 

It's pretty obvious why he didn't go to the pen. Atlanta's bullpen is terrible. Look at Yates right now. I have no problem with Cox leaving in Hudson for as long as he did.

 

Atlanta's bullpen may be terrible but Hudson had nothing left. Plus, I don't really have an explanation for the intentional walk to Jenkins.

Stephen Randolph walks the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th and LaRussa brings Pujols off the bench to pinch hit. Lidge is coming in right now with 2 outs and the Astros up 6-2.

 

Pujols better play against Milwaukee in a few days. And if the Cardinals lose this game, they are officially eliminated.

Sweet. We had to worry about them when we went head to head, and taking 3 of 4 pretty much did them in, but it's really nice to see this become official now.

If Milwaukee wins this series I'd be fairly shocked. To me the realistic worst case scenario is the Brewers split 4 games and the Cubs win 2 of 3 against the Pirates. That leaves the Cubs 1.5 games up entering the final week. That is still a pretty commanding position to be in.

If the Cubs are only .5 games up after this series I think the division is decided by a tie breaker.

 

Unfortunately as a Brewer fan I think the Cubs are up 1.5 after this series.
