I haven't posted in this thread as much as I thought I would.

Ducks lose, but Devils win!

i'd post in here way too often if i posted everytime i wanted to.

stuff like this: did you know that Mike Green is blossoming into an excellent defenseman in Washington?

Blues put a pretty good working on the Hawks last night. Gettting Toivonen and Boyes from Boston has worked out great so far for them. they look like a playoff team and with the way the young guys like Wagner, Perron, and EJ have played and throw in Oshie on his way next year they should be for a while.

yeah the Hawks really came up with a lame effort, I don't know if they were tired or something but 18 shots on net usually isn't going to get you a win, especially when you don't test the goalie seriously until the 3rd period.

Still was a good week though, winning two out of three, and they've got Vancouver at home on Wednesday. Hopefully the crowds at the UC start to get bigger, it was nice to see 16,000+ at the game Friday.

I like it. A little OT, but I don't like that guy's reasoning that ESPN has done wonders for the Arena football league. Last I checked, most people can't name three teams in that league. Just because they're on ESPN doesn't mean that every sports fan watches the AFL.

I've been pretty impressed with the moves the league has made this year. It's apparent that they're moving in the right direction.

boy the flyers are definitely "on watch" by the nhl - the officiating in last night's game was atrocious and resulted in about 5 unwarranted power plans for the wild. thankfully we won anyway.

I'm glad somebody is watching them!

Why are the Flyers on watch?

too many dirty hits resulting in suspensions

as an example of a bad call yesterday, danny briere got a roughing penalty for roughing himself against the ice in the first period.

Did he take a nasty shot at somebody and miss?

immensely entertaining game between the flyers and pens tonight. two flyers had hat tricks (lupul and umberger), and there were a whole punch of fights. mike richards told cindy crosby to stop diving, cindy whined and complained as he is wont to do; george laraque pretended that he slipped and fell into marty biron's legs, except he really did it on purpose. the pens completely melted down and the flyers spent most of the third period on the power play.

yet the announcers wouldn't stop talking about how the flyers are the dirty team  eddie olcyzk was a complete homer; he should never be allowed to call a pens game again when they're on national tv.

Erik Johnson with 3 assists so far tonight, giving him 11 points in 16 games. Pretty good for a rookie defensemen.

pretty good for a defenseman, period. he's gonna be a stud, wish we had a top-pairing defenseman in our system. coburn and parent are more second-pairing types.

Must win game for the Blackhawks tonight. Too early for such a statement? I don't think so. They have faded this month. Last in their division and 12th in the West right now. They are just 2-3 at home since returning from the long trip. And they are facing the last place team at home tonight. You simply have to win these games if you are a young team hoping to climb into playoff contention this season. Savard is playing with the lines on an almost shift to shift basis right now. If this team does fade, I believe he will lose his job, and the new regime may even dump Tallon and replace the whole crew by the summer. I hope it doesn't come to that. Even if they ultimately may need new leadership to get to the Stanley Cup level, I want to see this group at least make the playoffs this year and find some success. With all the attention and pressure on Kane and Toews to succeed this year, it would be a shame if the team disapointed just as people started paying attention.

I looked at the box score for this game, as I'm in a fantasy hockey league and was blown away by all the PIM. Also, Lupul with 6 pts- is he finally breaking out? Any thoughts to how many PTs he'll put up this season? I've had a revolving door wing spot that's currently occupied by Dustin Brown.

I agree it's a big game and they really need to win. They shouldn't be just one game over .500, time to raise the level of their play.

...and the Hawks beat the Kings 6-3 tonight. Toews had a goal and two assists, Havlat two goals, Kane with a couple of assists. Big win to end the losing strak.

Mike Richards signs a 12 year/69 million contract.

I think this is a great move. I worry about the length but if I had to give a 12 year contract to somebody Richards would be high up on the list. He is a great all around player and will probably be Philly's captain down the road. Should be good watching him and Crosby going head to head for the next 5 years and hopefully more.

12 years?!?!? man i wanted him signed long-term, but that's a little absurd. still, the dollars are pretty reasonable for a player with his leadership qualities and all-around ability.
