Exactly! Thank you! The pitching matchups we faced were alot tougher then what the big blue crew faced.

quit your whining. yeah, it sucks, but the cubs missed oswalt twice and webb when they were in arizona. the cubs shouldn't need the astros help to win 85 games.

Seriously, please quit the whining.

I'm sure the Cardinals just loved it when we were throwing out Guzman, Marmol and Juan Mateo at the end of last year.

I do remember that, and I think LaRussa complained about it. Which is why I was wondering out loud if Tony might want a little payback this year.

I understand this isn't the first time something like this has happened and the ultimate bottom line is we have nothing but under .500 ballclubs left on our schedule. Therefore if we don't make the playoffs it is because we didn't deserve it. I get that.

LOL wow. Why are some of you whining? If the Cubs dont make the playoffs its their own fault. They face Tom Shearn tonight, and then the Pitt rotation. Yea Pitt is throwing 3 lefties at us, you know what, big deal. Its the Cubs fault they are in this position nobody elses. Woody Williams? Are we really pissed about Woody Williams?

The only part I am really tired of hearing is that you cannot blame the OSwalt situation. I have 3 kids--all scheduled induced labor and you know what he could have chosen any day for the next 2 weeks to do this. What a joke! He makes $500,000 a start---yes more than I will probably make in a lifetime and the only remaining meaningful start he has--he just cannot work around it. Very unprofessional by the entire organization.

I would be pissed about it too if I were a Cubs fan, but that is just the nature of being out of contention in September. Organizations want to get a look at young talent to see if it fits in their future plans.

And are you really whining about the Brewers missing Woody Williams? The guy has stunk it up this year. To me, a rookie pitcher has more to prove and is more likely to give it his all in a game like this than Woody Williams, who has no future with the organization.

And Oswalt should just tell his wife to not have the baby or just go it alone while he pitches to keep the Brewers out of the playoffs? Things like that happen and the timing is unfortunate, but Oswalt can't miss the birth of his child.

Bottom line is, you can be mad about it as fans (I know I would as a Brewers fan), but no way should a player be whining about it in the media. Give the cliche answer "If we take care of our business, we don't have to worry about the other team" and play ball. I find it hilarious that Floyd would actually comment on this.

Finally, the Astros lineup has managed to put up 1 run in 18 innings, so Cy Young could be on the mound and it wouldn't have mattered. And the Stros had their A-lineup in each game (with the exception of Pence sitting last night).

The Brewers just got done taking 2 of 3 from the Reds team that has given it their all and the Cubs can still do the same. Play ball!

Yeah, Oswalt's wife could have easily induced Thursday or Friday instead. Considering they scheduled it a few days beforehand, it wasn't an emergency at all, and when they schedule those things can many times be somewhat random. It's not like it was a choice or not of Oswalt missing the birth-if he had wanted to, he could have easily pushed the birth back past this start with the Brewers.

At the same time, the birth of a baby is such a family thing that I cannot really blame them whatever they decide. Maybe they did have a reason why they wanted to do it yesterday. I think we should probably leave the benefit of that doubt to a couple having a child.

Do you guys not realize how silly and absurd that blaming Roy Oswalt and his wife for inducing labor on a day that's not convenient for the Cubs is?

Heh, seriously.

Also don't know how big a deal it is that Woody Williams missed a start, even the Cubs hit him around last time.

Yeah, the amount of anger at the Astros as if it's "obvious" they're doing this to take out the Cubs is absurd. People are actually complaining about not seeing Woody-freakin'-Williams...do you REALLY think the Brewers wouldn't have smacked him around, too? And people are begrudging Oswalt and his wife for wanting to have their baby now? Christ, playoff chances do weird things to people.

I suppose the Astros also just chose to barely score at all the last two games, too.
