I've never heard Soriano referred to as worse than average, with the prevailing opinion being that he's above average.

The post was referring to his range, not his arm.

Though I don't really agree with Murton rating as below average range wise. He makes a good deal of errors, and sometimes takes bad routes on balls that are already hits (that results in a decent number of extra bases), but in terms of pure range in getting to flyballs, he's at least average. What he does after he gets to them is the only problem.

I think Soriano's range is probably above average normally, but he has battled leg injuries for over 1/2 the year.

I just hope he doesn't revert back to the Marquis we all thought he was going to be next year. Same with Lilly.

I just wonder how much LR has helped these guys?

Sorry if i miss a big part of the conversation on this, but after reading this i had to stop and comment.

Iirc, there was much talk about how the true Rothschild would emerge this year, after Baker/Pole were let go. I would say the staff has done very well in comparison to some's career averages.

Larry Rothschild is an excellent pitching coach who was mostly ignored by Baker. I'm speaking with some degree of inside knowledge on the latter portion. I know that's not really a revelation, but I can confirm that it's definitely true.
