That's another Wrigley South for you! That Tue-Thur the second to last series of the year...Cubs fans will own that place.

if the cubbies are still in the race on next thursday...i will seriously be thinking of making the drive to miami for either the tuesday or the thursday game

i would have to miss a day of school...but...i don't think i could live with myself if the cubs did something special this season and i didn't go and see them when they were within decent range (sort of)

i don't like miami though

The Las Vegas Marlins!

Oh how I would love that...I'd be putting my Nevada liscense to use a LOT more often....

I don't think any of the four major sports will ever have a team in Vegas. Even if you ban betting on the games they play in, fixing games would still be way too easy.

Indianapolis, Portland, and Vegas would be terrific markets for MLB yet Miami still gets a team.

Nashville might be good, too.

What about OKC? Or isn't the surrounding metro area big enough for baseball? I know the Hornets in the NBA did very well there.

I strongly disagree. I think the extra tourist income that a pro sports franchise would generate here would make the gaming industry into an added police presence for "fixing". They would have too much to lose to allow a scandal to take place. Besides, how would it be any easier to fix a game in Vegas than in any other city?

Miami would be a good market if their stadium was close to anything and had a roof. No one wants to drive 40 minutes to the middle of nowhere to sit in the 95 degree sun. Sure Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers and Giants fans might do it, but not many teams would.

Not to mention the 90% humidity. I had friends that used to live down there and they said that going to the games was physically uncomfortable.

How about moving one of the Florida teams to Orlando and getting the other the hell out of the state? 870 gajillion people go through Orlando every day, I'm sure they could put some butts in the seats.

Yeah, Tampa is bad news too.

Its amazing that I just got back from "Wrigley" last week and what a difference it is to watch a game there. I must also say that I am still a "Sox" fan and have seen many a game at "Fenway" and can tell you this franchise in So Fl is a joke. I have attended games at Dolphin stadium and the sight lines are terrible and the seats are to far away from the field. Also add the fact that on day games who wants to sit in that sweltering heat and humidity. I think the marlins have a team payroll of about 22mil and have heard that the marlins recieve 62mil from the Commisioners office for the lux. tax that is dispered among the teams. This teams lease is due to expire at the end of the 2008 season and won't be renewed and there has been talks about building a stadium at the site of the Orange Bowl. I don't see this happening as nobody from the counties to the north of Miami would be willing to drive that far south to watch this team.

I will also add that when Cubs invade Miami we have already recieved ticket requests for about 300 tixs to hopefully watch Son make an appearance.

I still believe they should move to Las Vegas and call themselves the "Las Vegas Gamblers" and hire Pete Rose as the coach along with that.

That is a ridiculous picture! I don't understand how the article writer thinks the picture is a vote in favor of a new stadium, I see it as the opposite. The Indianapolis Indians would get better crowds for a practice game... and they are the pirates AAA team... kinda like the level of Peoria.

Too bad it'd never work there. Hopefully a deserving city can get this team.

Indianapolis,.

Are you kidding? Indy has some of the worst fans in the country. Before Peyton, they begged for fans to go to Colts games. The pacers don't draw. There is no way they could support a MLB team with cincy so close.

Las Vegas is the most logical place for a baseball team. They'd sell 2.5 million tickets annually, no doubt.

I don't support the notion that Indianapolis has terrible fans (I can name a lot of places that are worse) but I do agree that Indianapolis could not support a MLB team. There aren't enough baseball fans, and the ones that are here are committed to the Cubs, Reds, and Cardinals. Not enough would switch to make it worth it.
