Holy heck, Dr. Nick has made a boat load of cash off these guys!

I suppose they weren't smart enough to have them shipped to another address or name? Bonds knew what he was doing and he had the guy bought off so he won't say a word about it.

Actually, baseball players probably just looked at any other sport on T.V. and thought it was no big deal, since they all do this crap!

The ironic part is that the owners may have thought all the power was good for the game until they signed one of these guys and he went from 40 to 25 HR's.

I'm trying to find a link, but my friend said that they just announced on ESPN2 that Troy Glaus also received shipments of HGH.

Thanks.

This is starting to get big.

least surprising news ever (aside from a crappy bar downtown getting shut down by the dept of health on wednesday).

these guys had a chance to make millions by getting bigger, faster and stronger. the fact that most of them are cheating is pretty much what i expected.

I think this is the same pharmacy that the wrestler got his stuff from. But I'm sure Rick didn't know what he was doing was wrong.

Actually, a huge list of wrestlers got stuff from them, including the recently deceased Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero.

Wade Wilson also got nailed. Ditto Rodney Harrison.

This mess is only getting started.

Yeah, there's probably very few owners in any sport that care if their guys use PED's. Unless they get caught, or have to stop.

This "ring" is definitely going to turn out to be bigger than BALCO.

Something tells me the snowball started at the top of the mountain with Ankiel and just picked up Glaus. It will continue to get bigger, faster and pick up more people.

All of you that called for Ankiel to be burned at the stake, watch out if/when one or more ex/current Cubs get named.

This reminds me of the scene from "Seven" where Morgan Freeman turns to Brad Pitt and says "This story will not have a happy ending."

I wonder if any Cubs are going to be on "the list"?

I'm curious to see if the scrutiny will be as large. As opposed to BALCO, this place has murders linked to it.

Quite possible. Who really knows?

If any Cubs get caught with HGH like Ankiel and Glaus did they deserve to get nailed and I for one won't spend my time making up flimsy excuses for them and hiding behind technicalities.

I hope not, but will not be the least bit surprised.

People that work out at Gold's and whose performance has no bearing on their salary use this stuff.

Olympians, who are under the strictist testing, do this stuff all the time. And many are doing them now but not getting caught.

I wouldn't be surprised if some Cub players have used.

It would be interesting to see what percentage of players do use/have used a performance drug.

While I haven't actually heard too many people calling for Ankiel to be burned at the stake, we have poked a little fun at his expense. If it turns out that Cub players did the same, a little turn about would be fair play.

No one should be immune from the scrutiny if they got stuff from this place, considering the amount given to previous users.

The flimsy excuses are dog crap - I agree.

However neither Ankiel NOR Glaus have been caught with HGH. Giambi admitted it, and faced no punishment.

I'm not sure I would expect ANY discipline for anybody this season, short of a failed drug test (like Sanchez, Palmeiro)

The thing that frustrates me to no end on this subject matter is the fact that players turn to this stuff in an attempt to improve their game and reap big monetary rewards. Meanwhile, guys who don't touch the stuff and follow the letter of the law end up losing roster spots to these clowns and possibly never achieving a professional career. That, or they see that they too need to order PED's to be be able to compete on the same level as those already taking PED's.

Maybe Ankiel falls under the last group, but we'll never know. Baseball needs to find a way to rid itself of this demon (PED usage).

While I have never been a fan of peeing in a cup because it's each person's right to live their life as they choose, playing a professional sport that can earn you millions of dollars is limited to a small talent pool. Those that abuse that privilege don't deserve to be there any longer. The players who deserve to make millions in front of a national stage are those that got their without the assistance of illegal substances.

And while I can see someone like Ankiel getting "off the hook" because of the time frame, I'm referring more towards moving forward.

If earning millions to play a game means peeing in a cup once or twice a week, I think that's a small price to pay to not only help clean up this game, but to put an end to PED use to get ahead of the competition.

Remember how thrilled Will Clark was when Raffy got caught?

Here's the only excuse I've ever given. I know that if I could take HGH or testosterone and it would help me play better, I would do it. I would do it because it could be the difference in 20 homers a year and 40 homers a year. The difference between those two are millions and millions of dollars.

IMO, records documenting Ankiel received eight shipments of HGH is the same thing as getting caught with HGH.

To think otherwise, is to hide behind semantics and technicalities.

According to records obtained by The Daily News and sources close to the controversy surrounding anti-aging clinics that dispense illegal prescription drugs, Ankiel received eight shipments of HGH from Signature Pharmacy in Orlando from January to December 2004, including the brand-name injectable drugs Saizen and Genotropin. Signature is the pharmacy at the forefront of Albany, N.Y., District Attorney David Soares’ two-year investigation into illegal Internet prescription drug sales, which has brought 22 indictments and nine convictions.

I say this almost everytime the steriod topic comes up. Forfeit games. Until the league has a system in place that forfeits games this problem will not be fixed.

It is kind of weird how NFL players receive comparatively little flack for juicing compared to MLB players. Most people will forget this happened with Rodney Harrison within the next week, but Ankiel now has a public black mark that'll follow him around for a long, long time.

I'd like to know the justification for this kind of media behavior, if anyone has any insight.

Maybe it's because when you look at an NFL player (and wrestlers), you just assume that all of these guys are hopped up on growth hormones so people just give them a pass.

I fully agree. Ankiel had the stuff. What we don't know is whether he had it after it was banned by MLB. But to say he hasn't been caught with it is ridiculous.
