Dempster should not be closing out games for this team. I am completely disgusted with today's outcome. A day to finally full a little further ahead of the Cards and Brewers, and this happens. Absolutely horrible.

Hand the reigns over to Marmol and do it NOW!

For the lousy Brewers to be tied with us, and to have played as lousy as they have over the past few months, is crazy.

And for the SORRY Cardinals to only be a game and a half out, with no Carpenter, and a rotation of Looper - Wainwright - Reyes - Kip Freaking Wells - and whatever other sack of crap they can find at the sewage facility, is horrendous.

Blow this team up this offseason.

The Cubs suck. Just sucks it only took me until September to admit it.

The Cubs WILL NOT make the playoffs in 2007. If they do, I'll gladly eat crow.

I'd love to see the reaction of people that "hate Dempster" if Marmol is made closer and he eventually blows a save. Or several. What then? Do their heads explode?

no, they'll make excuses for marmol

he was bound to blow one at some point before the season ended.

if you want to get mad at something, get mad at the offense and the guy who built it.

This is the second time this season Dempster has come into the 9th with at least a 4 run lead and blown the game. Thats freakin terrible.

Did I miss something here? Pretty sure we had a 1 run lead right?

he's blowing 4 runs leads even when he doesn't blow 4 run leads! he sucks more than he actually sucks!

You're actually telling me you are comfortable with Dempster coming into the game with a 1 run lead in the 9th inning?

Marmol is the closer of the future, why not put him in these situations now?

Because he's more valuable in the situations he's normally used in.

or as I just wrote in another thread, get mad at the guy who put dempster out there at the end of a 6-run win yesterday. He's pitched a lot lately, let's throw him out on the mound when anyone in the bullpen can finish the game off.

Dempster has been very good this year....he's had trouble in non-save situations, but has not blown a save since June 10th.. How do you complain with the fact that it's been nearly 3 months since his last blown save?

Insurance runs would have been nice...

Dempster needs regular work. If he hadn't pitched last night, he would have had 3 straight days off before the game today, and he wasn't good in those situations last year.

I doubt fatigue was the problem...

Dempster is not the problem! The bullpen is not the problem!!!!

OUR OFFENSE IS THE PROBLEM!

Sheez!

I agree, but if the offense scores 4 and the opposition scores 3, and we are in the 9th inning, whose job is it to get those last three outs?

Dempster......

And with that, I am not very comfortable....

Are you?

In that time, how long was he on the DL? In how many appearances did he NOT blow a save?

Im more comfortable with that than I am the Cubs scoring 4 runs in a game. i can promise you that.

If that's the case, then you are having a hard time trusting the pitching too then? No?
