After an awesome come-from-behind victory to push the Brewers to 2.5 games back and 1 game under .500, the Cubs try to put another nail in the coffin.

This game pits this guy:

how sick are brewer fans right now? back in June you were thinking about winning the division by double digits and getting homefield, and now you're under .500 and in third place.

based on these numbers I think we should start dlee

Doesn't really matter, whatever happens the Brewers will blow the game in the 6rh or 7th inning like they have blown 20 other games this season and the Cubs will win.

Probably not even worth watching the game.

Sheets is making hsi first start in forever, he's been having blister issues, and supposedly that ligament hasn't even fully healed, and he will most likely be on a 75- or 85-pitch leash.

Watch him throw a shutout.

Posted

Sheets did at least pitch a simulated game I believe. I think his only limitation if he doesn't develop blisters is that he won't be able to go more than 6 innings, and he'll probably have to be efficient to do that.

If Dusty was managing the team, he'd start Murton tomorow based on his proven track record against Sheets. Those were always fun times when Dusty would make the right move with just godawful logic behind it.

Oh what the crap? I thought Sheets would either miss the series or pitch the 3rd game. Oh well, I like our chances with Z facing him. Hes due for a good outing here, as long as his adrenaline doesn't take over and he starts off bad. I'm also predicting a big hit, perhaps 2 ribbys.

Cubs hit hard throwing right handers pretty effectively, but being lazy and not looking up stats I believe Sheets has pretty good #'s against the Cubs. Lets hope his rust somehow turns into a 3-run homer, assuming the Cubs remember what that is.

If Z does anything at the plate other than strike out (I'll leave a sac bunt as grey area), I'll be thoroughly shocked and make it a point to eat crow in this thread. He has been overswinging like never before lately.

I'll also add that if he pulls his head out of his donkey and pitches like the Z he's supposed to be, I couldn't care less what he does at the plate.

I have a feeling we'll pounce on Sheets early and drop 5 on him.

They are rushing his start because they are getting anxious.

I think you're right.
