So if I do the math right...we miss getting shut out by Webb in the Az series right?

Not to sound optimistic...but tonight is the only time in the next 6 games we face a guy with a winning record.

taking 4 of 6 would be ok with me.

Soccer10k is right, Zito hasn't been that good this year. Cain and Lincecum have a history of stifling the Cubs and I would worry about Zito because of the Cubs struggles against lefties but Lowry would have been an impossible matchup for the Cubs.

Cain has a career 4.85 ERA v. the Cubs in 26 innings. I'm not sure how that qualifies as "stifling."

Hrm, didn't check that. I guess that one CG shutout he had in his rookie year stuck out.

At least the Giants offense isn't that great.

Hasn't Zito been doing well this month?

Zito's having his best month of the season right now. In June and July he was simply awful:

June

5.60 ERA, .858 OPSa

July

7.82 ERA, .929 OPSa

But in his 4 starts in August, he has a 2.92 ERA and a .678 OPSa. And of course he's left-handed. So I'm expecting 7 innings, 3 hits, 6 Ks and 1 BB vs. the Cobs.

Here's a worthless stat for you, Fred:

The CUBS are 5-1 this season when I am in San Francisco at the time, which also happened to be the 6 games against the White Sox. (Let's ignore the fact that one of those series was during Pride Weekend. Pure coincidence.)

If I were a betting man, I'd say my presence in SF was the deciding factor, not the WSox's crapitude, so take the sweep to the bank.

I really need to get to SF for a game at AT & T.

SF has won 5 in a row. Let's not forget they are a very good team when Barry's playing

They are an average team when Barry is playing. The rest of their offense isn't all that special.

Yeah, but sometimes the teams that are way out of it are some of the most "dangerous." They can get into a groove for a stretch towards the end and cause havoc when they play contending teams, like those damn Reds just did to us and the Brewers. Hopefully the Cubs can cool them off.
