Will Bud allow the best player on "his" team to be suspended in the midst of a pennant race?

Apparently, during Fielder's tirade yesterday, he bumped umpire Wally Bell.

Link.

Contact with an umpire usually results in a suspension, but as we know MLB isn't always consistent with its handling of such issues.

So, it will be interesting to see if Fielder has to sit a couple of games or gets off with only a fine.

I think he will get at least 1 game for "not leaving the field in a timely manner" . If they can prove he bumped him on purpose, then I could see it going to 5 games, but Im sure Bud wont be able to determine that.

Regardless, he should be suspended 5 games. I don't think Lou INTENTIONALLY kicked the umpire, that was an accident but he still got 5 games. Fat boy should get 5 games as well.

I only heard the game on the radio, but the way Uecker made it sound it was partially the umps fault. Fielder called a strike 3 call, and got the boot, and Fielder left the scene, but the ump walked after him and kept said something that pissed him off.

Ueker is blind then. Thats not at all what happened. Fielder said something and the ump asked him what he said he then repeated it, and thats when he got the boot, and then preceded to keep saying F U to the ump, and pointing in his face. He had to be restrained.

Like I said I think he will get at least a game for not leaving the field in a timely manner.

I thought contact was an automatic five regardless of intent?

According to ESPN.com, he's recieved 3 games.

SWEET

Time to appeal (and drop the appeal after the Cubs play the Brewers).

Wait, don't you want him to drop the appeal BEFORE the Brewers come to town? Like maybe, for the entire series?

I think he's saying that's how he believes Prince will do it.
