I love me some Jonah Keri

Matt (Chicago, IL): Are the Cubs going to get a right handed hitting RF?? Maybe Dye? This is the biggest hole that I see for them.

SportsNation Jonah Keri: (10:37 AM ET ) They've been talking about Payton, who's more of a stopgap than a difference maker. The White Sox are apparently asking a lot for Dye. Cubs have some intriguing young talent, question is whether they'll part with it, given how many holes they'll have to fill around their stars next season and going forward.

Personally I'd slot Matt Murton in there and let him hit, rather than letting Piniella jerk him around like he has. Murton's got a solid track record and could really help that team if they give him a shot. Yes, it seems riskier than making a deal. But why not try it, if the alternative is two months of mediocrity from a Payton type.

I like.

It's sad that we do have in house solutions for 3 of our 4 holes, but Soto, Murton and Pie won't get any regular time for some reason.

Once again, CF isn't really a hole.

Except for the whole lack of production thing, you're right.

Jones has an .825 career OPS against RHP. As a comparison:

By way of comparison,

Lifetime OPS v. RHP

Jacque Jones - .825

Carlos Beltran - .840

Mike Cameron .757

Johnny Damon .797

Andruw Jones .831

Vernon Wells .779

Torii Hunter .778

Nick Swisher .778

Are we only facing RHP from here on out? And are we going in the way back machine to when Jones was mildly productive?

CF is a hole. Pretending otherwise doesn't change that fact.

1. We're not facing only RHP, but Jacque will be. The "way back machine" doesn't have to travel very far; Jones posted almost a .900 OPS v. RHP last year. That's all-star production from a CF.

2. Pagan/Jones is an entirely reasonable platoon the rest of the way

3. C, SS, and RF are, you know, actual holes.

4. For a board that supposedly values an analytical approach, this board is awfully hypocritical about not applying that analysis to its least favorite players.

Murph on the SCORE just called Cole Hamels a "rag-arm lefty". Said he didn't have much last night and the Cubs suck against lefties.

He was heaping praise on Hamels. He called Moyer a rag arm lefty.

Murph is an idiot. I believe this is a well established fact.

He was talking about Hamels and then said the Cubs face another "rag arm lefty" when Moyer pitches. He's also saying Lou should have played J. Jones last night because Hamels is better against righties.

that guy is such a deusche with little to nothing to say. which, come to think of it, is probably why he has a show on the scr. ;)

He's had a mediocre career and is well past his prime and is having a horrible season. I don't see how any reasonable analysis could possibly assume Jones is going to suddenly come back to career norms, given the circumstances.

Hamels change was the best I've seen this year. Of course, I haven't seen Santana on his game this year. Haven't seen Hoffman at all this year.

The latest I can think of is the new Gagne one, which was updated at Rotoworld at like 12:46 EST
