Haha, Cobs do nothing again this year, no trade help. Yay!!!!

yeah, so much for the big "it's time to win the world series" speech from John McDonough.

Ken

That was before they are on a budget. If they don't make a deal, I think that means they cannot take on salary IMO.

Of course we don't need a true right fielder, from now until the playoffs, teams can feel the wrath and force that is Jaque Jones and Angel Pagan..Watch out MLB..Good job Jimbo

wow, we could at least wait for confirmation that no moves are going to be made before crucifying him, couldn't we?

of course hendry said he is going to stand pat. what was he supposed to say? we REALLY need another bat! No, because then he looks desperate and would get fleeced. I'm not sure if he'll do anything or not, but lets wait until 4:00 before we conclude that he's going to do nothing.

Exactly.

No moves yet? Well, at least it'll be fun this off season being secure in the knowledge we've retained all of our blue chip farm hands....

There's still time.

I keep refreshing transactions waiting for new threads.

Can I have the right to say "I told you so" if nothing happens?

I'll give you the right to call me an idiot if a trade happens.

i'm not confident that he'll make a move.

i am confident that i know as much as any of you as to what hendry is thinking.

I'm pretty certain nothing significant will happen. But I also think there's a good chance Hendry will do "something", just not the type of something that will greatly impact the team.

Not really. I'm not the one stating that anything is (or isn't) going to happen.

Obviously, the more likely outcome is that nothing happens.

Never too early to prepare for the letdown.

Yup... I've been let down by the Cubs my entire life, another disappointing day would simply be status quo...

Why does everyone want a trade that badly? I too would like Griffey or Dunn (or maybe even Dye) in Cubbie blue, but only at a certain price. If it costs too much (i.e. Pie), then i'd be let down if the cubs made the trade.

No trade may be better than a trade. It all depends on the offer. It is possible that a trade could make the team worse, if not for this year, than for next.

Latest from Rosenthal:

The Red Sox are on the verge of acquiring closer Eric Gagne, but their talks with the White Sox involving right fielder Jermaine Dye seemingly are dead, according to a major-league source.

The two teams apparently could not come to an agreement on players. Dye never was formally approached for his permission to approve a deal.

It is still possible that Dye could be traded before the non-waiver deadline at 4 p.m. ET. The Cubs, Diamondbacks and Angels could be possibilities.

The Diamondbacks have been shopping right fielder Carlos Quentin for pitching help. However, they are more likely to promote Justin Upton from Class AA than trade for Dye.

Because the Cubs badly need to improve.

Yes, there's always the fear that Hendry will make a bad trade. I'm not begging for a trade just to make a trade. I'm hoping any deal is made to make the team better.
