If Hendry had bothered to build a good OF, we wouldn't be in this spot where we're hoping for Jermaine Dye or Ryan Church.

 

Seriously, it's sad.

 

Soriano, Jones, Floyd isn't that bad on paper if you look at their last healthy seasons.

 

jones last healthy season is the current one, and he's been terrible.

This is one of the least active trading deadlines in recent memory, not just for the Cubs, but for the whole league.

there is always room to improve on a team, no matter what. Not making a big move is very disapointing. Jim screwed up big time, by not improving this team, and its a shame.

 

Can you make the pic in your signature a little bigger? I'm trying to determine what Kerry has under his fingernail...

10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1.. - let the countdown be over, doesn't look good. Let's hope Hendry gets something done by Aug. 31 and a mysterious injury occurs to get the person on the playoff roster.

Not going to meltdown i just don't believe we will make it any further than the 1st round of the playoffs. No one can tell me this team is good enough to win a WS. To the people who keep making comments like'who says hendry hasn't tried' etc this is just bs cos it's his fault our OF,C and bench require upgrading at this point. Actually he has done one thing-made the C position worse than it was before.

nope no moves for Jimbo today, not a surprise. Heres to hovering around .500 the rest of the year, lets just hope the Brewers play below .500 and we can slide into the playoffs and anything can happen from there.

Not going to meltdown i just don't believe we will make it any further than the 1st round of the playoffs. No one can tell me this team is good enough to win a WS. Cruddy Central Division teams that sneak into the playoffs with sub-90 win totals could never, ever possibly win the World Series.

I'm talking about going into the season. The comment was about Hendry buildinga a good OF. If you look at their last healthy seasons before this one, it looks pretty good on paper, defense and OBP ignored.

At least there were reports by now that Nomar was almost a Cub. All we've heard about Dye is that we inquired.

 

He won't be a Cub.

 

Actually, it was about 3:05 when that happened. A lot of us were assuming nothing had happened when the deadline passed without word of anything happening. Some people were flipping out because we didn't even get Cabrera at that pt.

 

 

Shortly thereafter, Gammons came on ESPNEWS and said that Nomar wasn't going anywhere, while a graphic on the lower right reported, "Nomar traded to the Cubs."

 

 

...or something like that.

 

Not that anything like that is going to happen this year.

It's not over until somebody spots Hendry in the vacant lot of the old Yum Yum doughnuts face first into a dozen.

 

And even then we have to ask what he traded for those donuts.

They will be eligible for the playoff roster if acquired before August 31st
