Cherry is likely down sometime early next week when Wood returns.

I really don't understand why he keeps getting called up. He's been terrible this year. He has a 5+ ERA at Iowa.

Cherry Pie! That's why....

ok, all kidding aside, I don't either.

Wait, Wood? Next week?

...really?

Well, if he feels ok after back to back outings in Peoria and then can do the same this coming week in Iowa, I could see Wood activated either during the Mets series or the series in Houston.

I think Hendry & Co. are still drunk off his showing in ST.

Its the only explanation, because hes been horrible outside of ST and a few weeks in the bigs. I really hope Wood can come back up, and quit with this continuous shuffleing of the bullpen.

The question is-who deserves to get called up besides Cherry? Petrick was sent down because he was terrible on the major league level and he couldn't throw on back to back days. That's a bad combination to have, so he left. There simply aren't that many options.

Also, to be fair, Cherry's been pitching much better in Triple A recently:

7 G, 9.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 10 K

the notion of calling someone up to "showcase" them is just silly. murton has like 700 major league ab's and 1,000 minor league ab's. teams know what he's got...12 ab's this weekend isn't going to change that.

When you've got GMs like Hendry and Krivskey involved, it might.

Our GM just said last week that he'd look to see how the offense does the upcoming week to see if we need to add a bat or not. I wouldn't put it past Hendry to bring up Murton to showcase him for a couple days.

Perhaps I should start a don't trade Murt to the Reds campaign.

If it's for Griffey then your campaign would be foolish.

Fixed, Dunn K's way too much and has godawful defense for a .300 hitter which Murton is anyway. Last I heard Murt's defense is growing strong.

It's funny because you genuinely think we'd be the losers of a Murton-Dunn swap.

It's unfortunate that Krivsky doesn't share MurtonFan's views on the relative value of Murton & Dunn. I'm a huge fan of Murton, but come on. At 27, Dunn already has 6 years of ML experience and a career OPS just under .900.

Beware of Dunn's old player skills.

He will fall off a cliff in a couple years, most likely.

I'll take Murton simply because our resources are better spent at center field, where we currently do not possess a viable option.

Murton costs almost nothing to keep for several years, and he's an OBP heavy hitter, which is what we need.

I think Cherry looked much better than he did now. I say that because his velocity was up higher in ST than now. I think I remember him hitting 94-95 on the gun in ST and now he barely hits 90.

so you wouldn't, right now, trade matt murton for adam dunn?

I really don't see how Dunn's skill set (hitting the ball hard and plate patience) can be projected to disappear in a couple of years.

That struck me a s little odd too.. It's not ike Dunn relies on a physical skill such as speed...

why does everyone think murton's .60 isod is so special? adam dunn is an OBP heavy hitter -- matt murton is not.

And either way, we'd be acquiring Dunn for this year. I don't think his skill-set is going to decline before October.

You sure Cubdom is ready for a guy who strikes out at a rate that would make Sosa blush?

Anyway I'm hearing nothing about this so I assume it's just board talk.

Better line recently. Still, I don't think he has much of a future here. I'm just hoping he's used for trade bait.
