I hope Jacque soon gets the Barrett treatment.

It's not even about that. He has an OPS under .700. And Floyd has an OPS under .800. We are getting crap production from our outfield. Something needs to be done.

ultimate fake rally.

howry is pathetic.

Yep, if only Howry would have made Jones slide.

sliding wouldn't have made a difference. now slowing down around third and looping out like he was going into the dugout...

It would have. Ross had just enough time to catch the ball turn and brace for a hit. Ross was standing up when he caught the ball. A slide by Jones and he has a 75% chance of scoring in my estimation.

well, sounds like you've got it mathematically figured out.

Well it sounds like....hmm...well you have no basis for your argument either do ya big guy?

arbitrarily throwing out 75% doesn't make your argument worth anything.

he and ball arrived at roughly the same time. it looks like he should have gone around ross and slid, but the way he rounded third put him in a real awkward position relative to the catcher. there was no real way for him to slide based on where he was standing. if he would have slid from where he was when the ball got there he just would have hit ross like three feet in front of home plate.

good enough for ya, big guy?

This is horrendous. We're now losing games like we were earlier, by letting normally crappy pitchers punk us and then giving the game away on stupid plays. Arroyo was having his worst year as a pro, until tonight. We should have done much, much better against him, but of course not!

If this is how we're going to play? We're going to slide down the standings double-quick.

Total freaking crap.

Wait, wait, wait. Let's forget about Jones and talk about Soriano. If he doesn't completely butcher another play in left the Reds don't even get that 4th run.

He's currently 10th out of 19th qualified outfielders in OPS. Just behind Pat Burrell and just ahead of Josh Willingham. He may be a 136 million dollar mistake, but he's our 136 million dollar mistake damn it!

I can throw out whatever numbers I want. BTW, I'm drinking and looking for an e-fight, cantcha tell. I am really upset and disapointed. So laugh at me whatever Brewers fans may be reading this, I don't care.

Was just checking some other sites and many are calling out Soriano for not being anywhere near the plate when Jacque rounded thrid so as to signal for Jacque to slide. I didn't watch the game, so is this a valid criticism?

Hm, good observation on their parts. I'd have to see a replay.

Sounds like the kind of criticism that Manny had the other night

I just re-watched it. Soriano was no where NEAR home plate. You can't even see him on any replays. They showed several angles and Soriano wasn't within 40 feet of home plate. Sad.

Thank goodness I didn't watch the end of this game. I was pissed enough when I saw that the Cubs lost 5-4 and Howry got the loss, i.e. the Cubs came back and tied it at some point to get Hill off the hook.

This is how it's done (1st inning, thanks ARam.)

Victoria's nice looking and all, J.R., but I miss Jenna Fischer!

It was time for a change. The other Pam will be back at some point.

I'll bet he didn't hustle over there

That's also a textbook example of what Jones should've been doing. You know, being in the baseline and not in the 4th row, sliding instead of trucking into the guy catching a throw at his head, etc.

Indeed, Jones' approach to the plate was just as flawed as his non-slide. All he had to was run worth a damn.

This would feel like the worst loss of the year....

no way, not even close

Not even close? I can't think of one. Granted every loss counts the same, but I can't think of a bigger one in terms of hertbreak factor.

Three words.

Victor @#$%ing Diaz.

That was without a doubt the most soul-crushing loss of any regular season.
