Okay. I really don't remember the second half of last year so I didn't know Murton produced like that. But I do know this season, he was struggling with his patience at the plate and at one point he was pretty much an automatic out.

He was never given a chance this year. He did struggle, but it was sporadic time. He also struggled at times last year. And most of the veterans on this team have struggled. Plus, the OF has offered basically nothing. Murton put up good numbers in the minors, and has the type of game that should translate to good numbers in the majors. He will probably never approach great, or even very good. But he could and should be a solid piece of the puzzle. But the Cubs screwed him over this year with their mismatched outfield mess and decided that he would be the odd man out, even though he didn't deserve that treatment.

With the year Murton had in 2006, and especially having a great second half, he should have been guaranteed a starting spot. You don't take a young, cheap, moderately-productive player and replace him with a guy who is old, oft-injured and less productive. And Floyd's range in rightfield is atrocious.

The team would be better off if they'd never signed Cliff Floyd, and if Murton were playing regularly in RF.

God I hope we can take 2 of 3. These Reds scare me though.

We really need to be patient, wear down the starter, and get into that disaster they call a bullpen. One of the reasons why I wish Murton were starting.

Do we see Harang in this series? If so, please tell me he's matching up against Zambrano..

I'm pretty sure we see him tomorrow, vs Marshall

Yeah, we do. I decided to check it after I posted that.

As fun as it is to say "he just Haranged that pitch" after he gives up a home run, he has really developed into a great pitcher. I'm not too excited to face him.

I am really surprised Floyd is starting - must be his #s against Arroyo...

and that is the best possible lineup with our current roster, IMO

Bruce, any word on whether Pat Hughes is back?

Pat's still feeling a bit ill. Hopefully, he'll be back tomorrow.

Currently at Cincinnati (updated about 20 minutes ago, from cinci's airport)

Winds gusting to 19 knots out of the southwest, broken clouds at 2000 feet, and light rain.

Here's a pretty radar picture:

I just remembered I'm not going to get to watch the game even though I have the Extra Innings package because, inexplicably, the freaking CINCINNATI Reds are my local team when I live halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga, TENNESSEE.

Oh, how I hate MLB, DirecTV and anybody else involved in these stupid local area listings.

Yeah, just got back from playing golf, ended up playing with one of the assistant coaches (mike something) at Xavier, who apparently lives next door to Adam Dunn in the summer.

Did Adam tell him he's being traded to Chicago
