That is the worst lineup I have ever seen.

Guess you weren't born yet when the Cubs were tossing out line ups that had both Neifi Perez and Jose Macias batting at the top of the order.

No, like every good Cub fan, he's chosen simply to forget those line-ups.

Thank you not at all for reminding me.

I wonder what Murton has to do to make it back to Chicago.

Be traded to the White Sox

...for Jermaine Dye.

Call up Hendry and tell him he's still alive.

If Murton wants to get back, all he has to do is become a switch hitter. Who cares if he can hit from that side, all I know is that Hendry see's "Switch Hitter" and creams his pants. He doesn't even bother reading the splits

Wait, wait, wait. You're telling me Hendry reads splits?

All this Murton and Cedeno kvetching is out of control.

A RH 1B goes on suspension, so they call up... a RH 1B.

A LH 1B/OF gets hurt, so they call up... a LH 1B/OF.

Not real tough to follow the thought process here folks.

If Soriano (Theriot) goes down and Murton (Cedeno) doesn't get the call, THEN go ahead and pull your hair out.

And if Murton wants to get called up, perhaps it would help if he became defensively adequate at any position.

Fixed.

Okay. While I agree that these recent callups are logical, and aren't necessarily doom-spelling for Murton or Cedeno, I get a little tired of this. Murton is a totally fine left fielder. He's right about average, by the most reasonable metrics we've got. Right field is another story, but he's no worse - and probably better - than Floyd or Ward out there.

But I don't think it matters how he compares to Floyd/Ward... Murton would be the right-handed half of a RF platoon. He needs to be compared to DeRo, which isn't looking good for Matty...

If you can live with Floyd in RF then you can live with Murton in RF

exactly. and it's not like rf is catcher or ss...murton could become an adequate rf with a little work. maybe they should have had him play some rf in spring training.

derosa shouldn't be getting a day off with lee out. that's almost as ridiculous as giving ramirez the day off after lee started his suspension.
Both ridiculous. Both wins. :D

To add on, from Road To Wrigley:

Since Matt Murton can’t play right field, he must’ve just been lucky tonight.

First he made a hustling catch near the visitors’ bullpen, quickly righted himself and gunned down Round Rock’s Danny Klassen trying to tag up and go from second to third with Iowa trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth.

Then, looking right into a glorious sunset, he made a sparkling shoestring grab to rob Mark Saccomanno in the top of the fifth, the I-Cubs still trailing by the same score.

Having thus flashed his arm and glove, he drew a bat from his quiver in the bottom of the fifth and launched a drive over the wall in center to tie the score and send the I-Cubs on their way to a 10-3 win.
