Interesting, source now says there may be a snag. Should be resolved one way or another in the next day. Geez.

Hahahaha...something tells me this guy is just jerking everyone around.

He is apparently not the only guy with this rumor.

Remember, Milwaukee radio reported it.

FYI, this was posted by Lance on his blog LAST night.

Dunn rumors

From the MLB rumor mill......Dunn to Brewers for Matt Wise, Tony Gwynn Jr and an infield prospect

While I wasn't all "season is over" on this...I'm also not exactly upset to hear this may just be a rumor.

Cubs won't win the division anyway. Wildcard is more likely. I like San Diego's ability to stay on top less than the Brewers, Dbacks will fade. Braves will be there, but with help, the Cubs are a better team.

With Sheets out you don't think the Cubs can make up 3 games? I've managed to finally start thinking positive about this team...

Considering how much the Cubs have made up on the Brewers recently even before Sheets' injury I certainly think they can make up the remainder with over two months remaining in the season.

i assume that he means escobar the SS. Bad deal for the reds.

that realgm board is full of goodness...

He is not a great hitter. He has horrible numbers with RISP. He hits home runs, strikes out, and walks. Great hitters hit singles with two outs and runners on second and third.

I smell false alarm. Even if the trade wasn't going to be finalized until after the game, I doubt the Brewers would play Gwynn today to protect against the possibility of his getting injured and having the trade blow up.

i found it hard to believe he'd be playing as well

We have people on this board that say the same kind of stuff though. The Adam Dunn perception out there is weird.

The Cubs board is pretty smart.

They yell at Jacque Jones and they know a lot about baseball.

Remember they are Brewer fans. They don't know anything about baseball except the fact that their team is finally winning for the first time in 25 years.

I'm going to lock this until it's official (or called off). I don't post things until they are confirmed, I was prett sure about this one but now we'll wait and see.

I have a hard time believing this guy was making stuff up.

Hey, it isn't a bad thing if this guy is not legit.

I am praying he isn't right because we can top that offer.

even if they weren't planning on finalizing the trade until tonight, there's no way gwynn would play today if he was involved.

I'm waiting to see if Dunn is in the lineup.

The only thing wrong with him (other than his defense) is the fact that his numbers seem to be on the decline. His OPS is higher this year, but he is on a hot streak right now, and his splits suggest he is a first half player.

Over the past 3 seasons, July has been his best month, and he has faded badly in August/September/October.

Sure...but that's not usually the reasons that he's criticized.

OMG, they are saying Weeks isn't part of the deal! If not, this is ridiculous and Krivstky basically traded him for a relief pitcher in Wise? WOW

Well, he DOES have a relief pitcher fetish.

There's no way Wayne Krivsky could possibly be this stupid.

And if he is, Hendry needs to get involved if only to screw up the Brewers deal or drive up the price.

The Kearns trade last year proved he isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

But agreed, ths would be a really really really dumb move for the Reds. Hendry should definitely get in the middle of this, but he probably won't.

Dunn's on the field warming up for the game tonight, wearing a Reds hat, so I don't think anything has happend yet.

If he'd been wearing a Brewers hat, that would have probably been a clue...

There's no way he'd be in the lineup if there was a deal going down tonight. I'm calling BS.
