With all the talk about the Cubs doing something at the trade deadline, I wonder if the Brewers will do something to counter any moves by the Cubs?

they should trade some young prospects like braun, hardy and hart for some good vets

I should have expressed that I'd rather not finish in last place for a decade to get to the position of having all of those prospects making it to the bigs at the same time. :P

Well, Hardy has finally started to come down to earth (*KNOCK ON WOOD*)

Hopefully Braun is next on the list of overperforming Brewers to regress to their mean.

One thing - Braun has mashed at every level. He's playing over his head, yes, but not like Hardy was. The question on Braun has always been his defense, not his ability at the plate. He may cool off, but he won't plummet.

Yeah, I don't think anybody is expecting Braun to drop down to become a bad player. He is going to be one of the better offensive third basemen in the league. I just think most people are expecting him to drop at least into the 900 OPS range, which would still be 150 points below what he is right now.

i am super happy that most people passed up on him as their HR derby wildcard. I may have bought myself some more HR's and could catch up a bit

Braun's numbers:

.335/.388/.660/.1048

14HR, 39RBI in 188 at-bats.

No way he keeps up that pace. He's a great player, but he's not that good. Those are Pujols numbers.

ESPN has the Cubs ranked ahead of the Brewers in their power rankings, even though Mil currently has a 3.5 game lead.

Ha!

Power rankings would be pretty meaningless if the just listed all the teams in order of their record.

That thread on the Brewers board is pretty hilarious, actually.

It was started Saturday, and we followed with 2 losses...

just sayin'

He hit another one last night. This guy is ridiculous. He doesn't even have a muscular build. He's just a guy -- and he pounds out HRs like there's no tomorrow.

Is there anyone who should be ROY over Braun, provided he continues on this pace?

Christ this guy is making me freak out. He didn't even make it out of ST!! Where's our Braun, Mr. Hendry?

the only guy that could steal votes from him would have been Pence, and he's now out 4-6 weeks with a wrist injury
