  1. I personally don't see the Cubs running away with the NL Central with what they have on paper right now. I see them winning it but not overpowering the opposition. As it is clear with the adding of a strong left handed bat in the lineup and get Dempster to repeat what he did last year and get Big Z to mature more and pitch with a little more consistancy and we have the brewing of a great team. Will DeRosa have another career year....if he does it will likely be with another team cause I don't see us adding a sure left-handed bat in the lineup without losing him in the process. We can try to sign Bradley or Dunn but in my opinion that's a toss up. Maybe Fukudome will bounce back and add the punch to a degree the Cubs need. Anyway I just hope that before I die I see the Cubs in the World Series and the rate they are going I feel it will be soon.
  2. Hey Philips just throw the ball if he wants to stand up while going into second base. You might find yourself in leftfield but if you throw it right he'll find himself in a dentist chair.
  3. Just because he has nagging injuries doesn't mean he has used in enhancements in his past and to post stuff like that is outrageous and down right careless. Would you like to have some health problems and have people make stupid accusations about you. I'm not a Cardinal fan at all I hate them and the only way I would ever cheer for Albert is if he was playing for the Cubs or batting against the Yankee's.
  4. Gosh this a shame, I hate to see a player hurt like this. Injuries are one thing but a freak accident like this is just a shame. Who cares how this effects the Cardinals. This is unfortunate for Mr. Encarnacion an injury that not only sidelines him the rest of the year but possible his career.
  5. I guess that's the point I was trying to make. By putting him on waivers a team would claim him. (Marquis would be just fine too I shouldn't have just singled out Marshall) The Cubs then could possible make a deal that could get the player or players they need.
  6. If memory serves me correct in 1989 the Cubs were on the verge of capturing the NL east when they sent the struggling(and that's being polite) Calvin Schiraldi to San Diego for Luis Salazar, Marvell Wynn and I can't think of any other individuals who were involved in that trade. Hendry needs to do one of these trades to shake somethings up and get some fresh blood on the team. Make a few minor adjustments tweak the engine; adjust the throttle something but don't wait for something to do the shaking do the shaking himself. I understand that you don't want to trade just to trade but even if it is just minor in the eyes of everybody it just might be the move that shakes it up enough to get the Cubs to the playoffs and hopefully to the World Series. Marshall is a pitcher that in my eyes has enough potential to attract that kind of trade and might gives something in return that might just be the adjustment the Cubs need. Dealing him would force the Cubs to replace him in the rotation and that move alone could be the adjustment in the rotation we need and it could get us a position player (CF) that can help us too. It could make us throw our hands in the air in praise or displeasure but at least Hendry try to get the club over that hurdle.
  7. Well with the recent hissy fit Ohman threw when getting demoted to Iowa. I wonder what value he has in the trade department. Seems to me teams could say they don't want his attitude on their team as a bargaining chip to get him for virtually nothing. I don't want to see him just be released and guess any prospect in a trade is better then nothing at all. I say send him to Tampa Bay!
  8. Waste of time to discuss this has been when we have Felix Pie. No Pod just give us Pie!
  9. I have faith in Uncle Lou we won't go below .500 this year and for that matter I think we can right the ship and pull this one together and enter the postseason on a roll. I refuse to think negatively, some may revel in the fact that in past season the Cubs have fallen apart but I won't. This is a different year a different manager a new era. I hope my point has been understood!!
  10. Kendall, I can handle. It's a shame that Koyie Hill is on this roster. That is an understatement!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Yeah what is up with the lack of the long ball!
  12. With the info on Soriano's injury and being out a month the Cubs need a shot in the arm. Now I was kinda vasilating on the trade deadline lack of movement. I felt well the brass obvious feel that what we have is enough and I also felt what if there is a injury or what if it isn't enough! It's time for someone to step up either on the team or in the front office or both. A trade would be nice if it's the right player and the right price. I think it would be great to see maybe some youth come up and hit the hell out of the ball for the next month or so and make a name for themselves.
  13. Wouldn't shock me to see 1 or 2 on that list being moved Glaus or Burrell; long shots would be Griffey, Vasquez.
  14. So a deal for someone like a Griffey is not out of the question yet! It's doubtful but that's what makes this game so fun it's the you never know situations. Griffey did clear waivers, IIRC, in 2005. 2005 was one of those injury plagued years for JR wasn't it! Wasn't it a few years ago where a GM ( I can't remember who) practically put the whole 25 man roster on waivers to gauge the interest to see who was interest in who and what he might get in exchange for them. Who can forget the Devil Rays sticking to the Yankee's a few years back with Canseco that was great!
