BLEVINS!?!??!?! AWFUL. SCREW YOU HENDRY.

Are we really getting worked up over a potential LOOGY?

Well, seeing as he gets out righties just as well as lefties, he's no LOOGY. He's probably a better lefty reliever than Eyre, Ohman or Rapada.

Kendall has been awful this season to boot.

Is this a freaking joke? He has a .542 OPS, this fixes nothing, and unless the A's picked up a ton of money, all this does is hamstring us in the future.

Jesus christ why can't the Cubs just let an inexpensive young player fill a freaking role? God dammit.

the future? unless im mistaken he's a free agent after this season. I don't think he's a very good player anymore but this isnt the worst deal hes done. the money isnt an issue for the Cubs and its a buy low chance. there's a pretty damn good chance kendalls obp is .340+ the rest of the season. power? no but as long as hes not an auto out im happy.

Oh man, Len and Bob seem to love this deal, saying that there is nothing not to like about it. For the first time in a real long time, I'm disgusted in their announcing. I don't expect them to openly say he sucks, but they act like we just locked up the division or something.

Blevins is a non-entity.

can you tell us a bit about Blevins? Not familiar with him.

How is his defense?

Getting worse every year.

So is mine...but what does "getting worse" mean...I assume he's still better than Barrett was...

All I am saying is that is most likely his future at the ML level. Getting Lefties and righties out at AA is a whole lot different compared to the major leagues.

Well, I mean, he sucks this year. Typical Cubbie trade. At least we didn't give up anything worthwhile for him. His numbers last season would look nice if he can trick himself into thinking he's still good.

How much does he make nowadays?

Yeah, at least he didn't buy high.

But Blevins is pretty dominating and seems to have turned a corner with his control this year. And hes definitely not a LOOGY. Hes faced three times as many righties as lefties this year and has destroyed them.

What happened to him this year? Just checking his career lines, he's been fine up until this year.

If he could get back to form, he looks like a great 2 hitter.

Two questions:

When does Kendall become a FA?

Who the hell is Blevins and what is he rated in our system.

This could be a very good trade if Kendall figures out how to get on base again. He could solve any second hitter problem that we have, and it makes the bottom of our line-up much better if Kendall can do the job in the two hole.

I'm talking about for this season. How much money can we add before the deadline? Whatever that theoretical number is, this takes a chunk out of it (unless we got the A's to eat a ton of money), making it harder to pick up an actual difference maker, instead of a guy that can't out OPS Izturis.

I'm so pissed Blevins was part of the deal. Jim bent over and let Beane rape him.

Just like he did on the Morissey for Bellhorn deal huh?

Posted

Yeah, at least he didn't buy high.

He paid a high price with Blevins.

Beane saw Hendry looking to acquire a veteran catcher and sold him on Kendall while robbing us of a prospect, who while not spectacular likely could have been a successful reliever in the major leagues.
