Figured I'd get this going so we can start talking about the game. This is my first career game thread start, and I expect to continue on until about mid-August.

Jason Jennings

Let's take it to this guy and get a W so we can get back to 2 over and hopefully 3.5 back of the Brewers!

Hmm, Jennings.

This is my first and possibly only game I will be at this year, so let's please win one Cubs!

This might be a day to start Izturis-he is 10/29 with 2 2B and 2 BB's against Jennings.

I get the feeling we're going to see some moves made either tomorrow or before the game. Don't know if that means someone gets sent down, or someone gets traded, but Lou wants his 12 pitchers, so I think we'll see that before Friday.

You would think so, but I've felt that a move was coming 2-3 weeks ago. Just remember, these are still the same old Cubs who have no idea what they are doing when it comes to player personnel.

We need a sweep here.

If you really want 12 pitchers, now is not the time to do it. The only reason to waste a roster spot on a 7th reliever is if your bullpen has been taxed. Cubs' relievers will have at least 4 days of rest before gametime, and all but Howry will have at least 5.

What are the probables for this series? Jennings, Oswalt, Wandy? Uh oh.

Edit: According to ESPN, and who knows how accurate

Fri: Jennings vs. Zambrano

Sat: Oswalt vs. Lilly

Sun: Wandy vs. Marquis

We always do well against Oswalt, if memory serves. But Wandy is going to annihilate us.

Anyway, win please.

I don't think the Cubs need 12 pitchers period, but Lou has been barking for quite some time about how he wants to get back to 12.

10-9 with a 3.77 ERA, I guess your right. He's not soft tossing nor is he lefty.

Wandy sucks. I always want to pronounce his name like Randy with a W. Then it sounds like you have a speech impediment.

Right, and he'll have to wait at least a few more days before such a move is made. Might as well wait until the bullpen isn't 100% rested before making such a move.

Hello Z, remember me? It's your good buddy the strike zone...how 'bout you come to visit me more often early in counts so you aren't sitting w/ 70 pitches after 3 innings, mmm'kay?

i wish the cobs had another power hitter, because i'd like to see lee moved into the two hole, where, with what he's doing, he would be most valuable. oh well for now i guess.
