Carroll on XM said that Kerry would be making an appearance in AA before joining the team. Carroll also said that he hadn't heard of any health issues or problems so far and said Kerry's turnaround is remarkable.

I tuned in just in time to hear him talk about Kerry; I don't know how recent his info is about a AA appearance.

eta: jaxxradio posted in the minor leagues forum that Kerry would be pitching for the Smokies, so I guess that's confirmed now.

Bruce and the other Chicago writers had this in today's papers.

According to Piniella, Wood will join the Cubs on Wednesday or Thursday.

Link.

Piniella also said Kerry Wood's rehab outing at Double-A Tennessee on Tuesday would be his last one, and that he'd be on the Cubs roster either Wednesday or Thursday.

Interesting.... I wonder what roster move will occur once that becomes finalized.

Cherry for Wood, straight up.

Now there's no need to make a blockbuster trade, dude, because that's basically what Wood's return will be!!

Interesting... That's not at all what was reported tonight during the ESPN broadcast. They said that he would make a 2 inning appearance on Thursday or Friday and could be called up afterwards if all goes well. That didn't make much sense to me, waiting almost a week between relief appearances, so I'll have to go with Paul Sullivan on this one.

I'm still trying to temper my excitement for Wood's return, but he would truly give us an abundance of 8th inning caliber setup men. Howry, Marmol, Wood, and even Wuertz on occasion... that's a very impressive pen.

His two-inning appearance is tomorrow (actually today now). not Wednesday or Thursday.

And thats what Hendry will fill the void with left by the lack of major moves at the deadline.

I'm sure Wood has popped a lot of cherry's in his time.

Anyone have an update from tonight yet?

1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 K/1 BB, 24 pitches (15 strikes), 2 GO-2 FO.

Is anyone else worried that Wood has never really had to work in any of his rehab appearances? What happens when he gets activated and has a tough 30-35 pitch inning? It doesn't seem like his shoulder has been tested very much so far.

The only reading from the gun that was announced was 92 mph

I haven't really been paying much attention, largely because I don't want to get my hopes up and then be crushed when he suffers another setback, but is that velocity pretty consistent with where he's been the past couple weeks?

91-94. touched 95. But his command has been excellent, and that's probably more indicative of his health.

I think Kerry Wood could probably throw 30-35 pitches if necessary.

I also think if that happened we wouldn't see him pitch again for a week.
