I've been hearing the Cubs may look to add a bullpen arm or two. I hope one or both of these guys is able to return if for no other reason than to prevent Hendry from wasting valuable resources on more relievers.

I really do think Hendry and Wayne Krivsky are one in the same.

We don't need more bullpen help. We need offense from RF, CF, C, SS.

Hendry is like the kid who pays his friend 10 bucks for the extra snickers bar his friend has.

Krivsky is the kid who gives his brand new bike for the snickers.

As suspected, Kerry Wood got the start for Mesa. He faced 3 batters in what was likely his only inning of pitching and struck all 3 of them out.

Kerry is picking on those poor kids.

It was probably only on 9 pitches. :D

Psh, I'd say it took him 3 pitches, max:

AZL Giants Top 1st

* Skyler Stromsmoe strikes out swinging.

* Nicholas Noonan strikes out swinging.

* Angel Villalona strikes out swinging.

EDIT: Yup, that was his only inning of work.

I hope none of those kids just signed and reported to rookie league camp. That would just be unfair.

Angel Villalona is the Giants $2.1 million dollar Latin American signing from last year...he's 16 years old still.

So Kid K struck out someone who was 12 during game 5?

That's freaky.

I just can't help but imagine the comments about Wood from this board if he was in a different organization.

probably lots of jokes about the comeback, claims of overrated, etc.

I understand why he's popular with a lot of fans, but he hasn't contributed anything of value in 3 years.

We have won one playoff series in the last 100 years and Kerry is the main reason for it. That is why he can do nothing for three years yet still be the best.

Too bad game 7 happened? Where was he in that one?

Don't you need a decent LOOGY in the playoffs?

$2.1M for a 16 year old? Jeez. I am all for putting money into the international market, but that's just a lot of cash for a prospect with far too much variability, IMO.

You have to be kidding. No way one game lost that series, and even if that was the case, I would argue it was game 6 then. Either way, he was in there, he didn't have his best stuff, but he was there. You may remember he even hit a homer to tie it up. It isn't his fault his manager wasn't as bright as Jack McKeon and didn't pull him when it was obvious he didn't have his best stuff. We should have pulled him for Z, like they did for Beckett. But, we saved for Z for game one of the world series, the one we got to watch.

They fear now he might not be able to stay at third because of his size, he is even more of a gamble at first.

There's not much to say about Kerry Wood beyond the results: one inning, three strikeouts, and a 93 on the radar gun. He came out feeling good, and reports are that he still felt good Monday morning when he came in for his normal treatment. Yes, it's just one inning against rookie league competition, but a couple more of these and he'll be back in Wrigley pretty quickly. There is no question that Wood's presence alone would be a lift; if he can fire mid-90's heat in that bullpen, that's not going to hurt their chances of catching the Brewers.

Pitching unlike where he would've been if somebody else pitched games 1 and 5 of the NLDS. But yeah, what a douchebag, he didn't pitch lights out in all 4 of his postseason starts. Let's kill him.
