Jones AND Izturis to be traded?

I was just browsing over at BCB and I saw this posted from Al Yellon, the editor-in-chief. Has anyone else heard anything on either of these fronts?

Id be happy as a pig in crap if they went packaged together..It seems kind of likely seeing that they both are rarley playing anymore and we have Fontenot,Theriot and DeRosa for those spots.Theres no room for those bums..Please get it done

That is kind of what I figured so I thought I would ask around here.

I'm not holding my breath that this will happen. What team would be willing to take Jones and Izturis?

Because of Cedeno's dominance at AAA, I would say it may be more imperitive to get rid of him(Izturis), moreso than Jones.

If the Cubs are not willing to pay a substantial amount of Jone's salary, I dont see him getting traded. Truth is it may be a better gamble to hope he breaks out the 2nd half and comes back to just being below average. The person who is not on the major league roster because Jones is here is Murton. Truth is I would rather he stayed in Iowa than be a part timer with the Cubs.

 

As for Izturis, he will be easier to trade. I kind of would like to see Cedeno come back. He is hitting unworldly down in AAA.

He will do no worse than Izturis, and could very well do better.

The deal for Izturis pissed me off as well. You can't tell me that some team wouldn't have given something better for Maddux.

I don't even care if we couldn't get anything better. Izturis has negative trade value when you consider his contract. Ridiculous. To get back on tract, I would LOVE to see Jones and Izturis traded. Hopefully we don't have to eat too much money.

the worst part about that trade is that we were going to get good prospects in return until the Braves traded Betemit who made Izturis expendable. The D Rays then came in a swept away the prospect we were going to get for pitcher, Mark Hendrick?

I think it kinda sucks for Jones/Izturis that they catch all the heat for their lousy contracts when Cub Management is the ones that gave it to them.

 

I'm really glad we have a manager who will play the deserving players instead of trotting out bench players to start.
