Can someone give me a quick overview on this?

Is it official? Who did we get? How much money involved? What's the corresponding move?

So far:

Jones, PTBNL, $1 to the Marlins for an A ball pitcher.

However, it was just reported that the deal has hit a "snag"

Only one million? WOW! Way to go Hendry!

There are more rumors that say we are paying most of his salary. Don't get your hopes up.

it's going to be more than that... money details are almost always wrong at first. Can you really see the Marlins being willing to pay Jock almost $6M next year?

Per David Kaplan, Jones and 5 million to the Marlins for a left handed minor league pitcher.

Amazing, the guy who keeps paying money out for his mistakes still has his job.

They're talking about it on CSN at the moment. It still seems like it's happening.

Please summarize. Thanks.

Eh, it's a bunch of airheads debating the value of Jacque Jones to the Cubs. They're talking about how this was done essentially for the same reason as Barrett; get rid of dumb baseball.

Bleep. Have dinner reservation to get to.

Hopefully when I get back to the computer Reds will have been right.

If no deal on Jones, but Petrick is already at the ballpark (has been confirmed), then the Cubs will need to DL Dempster before the game begins.

or they can just not suit up Petrick

If it's only $1 million, the PTNBL is probably Pie...

PTBNL would have to be a minor leaguer.

I'm guessing Taylor is good?

I like 74/5 K/BB ratios for a pitcher.

They might be able to do that tonight, but that would be it I think. I believe a minor league callup must report and be on the roster within 24 hours, but I could be wrong. Whatever the time limit, if he hasn't been rostered by that time, I believe the rule is that he becomes a minor league free agent.

In other words, you don't call up a minor leaguer unless you intend to suit him up.

That would be nice, but he isn't on that roster, is he?

n/m. He's just not appearing on the active players because he's on the DL right now.
