Cubs are also sending the Marlins 1 million in cash.

That's it?

That's awesome if true.

They said not West and not Taylor...I'm betting Leroux...

I don't even see a West on their roster. Cowleys' got some pretty decent #'s.

Rotoworld has it up now....

The Marlins have acquired Jacque Jones from the Cubs, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

No word yet on what the Marlins got back, but it won't be much. The Cubs are likely covering a large portion of the roughly $9 million Jones is owed through 2008. It's still a nice pickup for Florida. Jones isn't a great defender in center, but he can handle the position and he will start hitting. To pick up such a solid stopgap at what is almost surely very little cost is a nice feat for GM Larry Beinfest. Jun. 26 - 5:53 pm et

That's it? Good.

1 Million? And the Marlins pay the rest of Jones contract right?

Awesome.

Just got home from work and I dont feel like reading 24 premium pages. Someone wanna fill me in? So far I've got this:

Jones, PTBNL, $1Mil, Traded to Florida for an A Ball pitcher?

Is this correct? Is it finalized?

Posted
Slightly off topic...but didn't we get 2-3 A ball pitchers last year in deadline trades? Scott Williamson was traded, someone else that I can't recall. Were any of those A ball arms worth anything?

Cubs are also sending the Marlins a PTBNL, but that's per the Palm Beach Post.

That's it? Not bad.

Agreed. If we only have to send 1 million, that's not bad at all.

Of course, I wonder how good the PTBNL we'll send will be.

Why couldn't be an ITBNL?

(Izturis to be named later)

More than likely some Single A pitcher that will go on to be an 3 time all star with the Marlins.

Got Fabian Jiminez (out of the organization) and Joel Santo (doing ok at high-A, had a solid start for Daytona today) for Williamson. Got Adam Harben for Phil Nevin, he's out for the season with TJS. Got Jose Ceda for Todd Walker - he looked good but is in Mesa with a shoulder injury (no surgery).

Jesse is at Wrigley, live on 670 now.

Mentioned rumor, said Cubs would take on "most of salary," then said Jones has not been told of trade, as of a "few minutes ago."
