I'm glad Jones is gone, but it won't really help the team that much unless Hendry brings in someone decent for RF. As of now, the team is basically the same with or without Jacques, since he has been benched finally. I'd say they'd bring Murton up, but it is clear that they want a pitcher.

Slightly off topic...but didn't we get 2-3 A ball pitchers last year in deadline trades? Scott Williamson was traded, someone else that I can't recall. Were any of those A ball arms worth anything?

 

Got Fabian Jiminez (out of the organization) and Joel Santo (doing ok at high-A, had a solid start for Daytona today) for Williamson. Got Adam Harben for Phil Nevin, he's out for the season with TJS. Got Jose Ceda for Todd Walker - he looked good but is in Mesa with a shoulder injury (no surgery).

 

ugh. Not a good track record there.

 

If Ceda can stay healthy, he's one to watch. Otherwise, yeah - but even at the time of the trade, the guys the Cubs got for Williamson didn't look that good.
