Per David Kaplan, Jones and 5 million to the Marlins for a left handed minor league pitcher.

Please be Taylor.

I'm guessing Taylor is good?

I like 74/5 K/BB ratios for a pitcher.

ooo that's taylor. Yeah that's not bad

Uh oh......Latest from Rosenthal ...

The Marlins could be on the verge of acquiring Jacque Jones to be their regular center fielder.

Jones, 31, has been traded, according to the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, but the deal has hit a "major snag," a major-league source told FOXSports.com. As of 6:20 p.m. ET, the Cubs had yet to inform Jones that he had been dealt, another source said.

The snag likely involves money — Jones is earning $4 million this season and $5 million next season. The low-revenue Marlins almost certainly would require the high-revenue Cubs to pay the majority of Jones' remaining salary as part of the deal.

Any transaction involving more than $1 million requires the approval of the commissioner's office. The quality of the player the Cubs would acquire for Jones would almost certainly hinge on the amount of money they would pay the Marlins.

From the NW Herald:

Cubs manager Lou Piniella would not confirm the trade, but when asked why Jones never succeeded as a Cub, he said, "I wish I knew."

I'll help you out, Lou - he's not a good baseball player.

I don't know about you guys, but I've got a feeling Jacque is going to have some nasty things to say about the organization on his way out.

This probably means Demp to DL since the trade won't be finalized in next hr. Don't play jones today. What incentive does he have to not screw us over?

Organization, perhaps. Fans, you betcha. I bet he hates the fans, and quite honestly, I don't blame him. Not the boo-birds who boo when he messed up, but the ones who shouted racist remarks and such

He didn't "never" succeed as a Cub. 2006 was above average.

The rest kind of sucked, though.

Any idea what West's injury is? He hasn't pitched all season long.
