I agree that it shows something about Pignatiello (although I think the Gallagher move showed more about that) but part of the reason that Pignatiello might have been passed up was that he pitched last night. The Cubs need somebody who can possibly pitch multiple innings tonight, and Petrick hasn't pitched since Saturday night.

Actually, Pignatiello was the other guy being considered when Gallagher was called up.

In 42 total innings this year (A/AA) he's got 43 K and only 10 BB. 3 HR in 30.1 IP at AA (0 in 11.2 IP at A) so he's doing fairly well.

Not that I've heard. They have a little over 4 hours now to keep working the trade lines and get that done, or go to their backup plan and send somebody down.
