It's worked thus far... Major League movie-reference for this game:

In case you haven't noticed, the (Cubs) have managed to win a few ball games, and are threatening to climb out (from below .500). ~ Harry Doyle (lightly adapted to fit the current sitch)

GO CUBS!

Sweep versus the Sox and an amazing win against Colorado (even though it should have never come to it), but just keep riding the wave.

Don't blow it.

For whatever reason, Lopez has been showing better control this year. Lets be patient and stretch the game. Fuentes has now blown 2 of his last 4 save opportunites.

A nice 9-1 game would be good. dont need anything like last nite again for a while.

Geaux Cubbies!

I'm going to the game tomorrow.

They haven't won any of the games I've gone to this year.

If this one goes down the crapper, I'm sorry.

I've heard some people criticize WHIP as a 'roto' stat and useless in statistical analysis, and I hae to wonder if thats true when looking at these two guys. Lopez has a 1.26 WHIP which is slightly above average, but has only 8 walks and 5 HRs in 46 IP.

Lilly has a 1.05 WHIP, but has walked 18 and given up 12 HR.

Lopez's ERA is 2.93, while Lilly's is 3.90

Howry and Eyre are probably both pretty close to unavailable for this one-only in emergencies. So that will leave Marmol, Wuertz, Ohman, and whoever the new pitcher is for the bullpen tonight.

Hendry is running this team. I'll believe he lands a pitcher when I see it.

Pretty sure the Cubs are supposedly switching to 12 pitchers sometime this week, as early as today.

Plus, elsewhere on the board it was just reported that Hendry was just on the radio saying that they were going to bring in another pitcher before tonight's game.

Well WHIP is a rate stat, which is especially useful when two pitchers have vastly different Innings Pitched such as these two pitchers. I'm no stat wizard but I'd imagine that Lopez's peripheral numbers suggest a rise in his ERA in the near future.

But WHIP is essentially the pitching version of OBP. Basically OBP per inning. I don't know how its just a useless fantasy stat.

I think it's odd that fox but not espn has covered that idiot fan that about got to howry. I guess they aren't promoting that kind of behavior which is a good thing. I wasn't watching the game (until the bottom of the ninth 8-) ), was this fan just drunk or all cracked out? Just wondering what would make someone do something so stupid.

oh yeah, go cubs, 5 in a row????

The guy was sitting a few rows in front of me and he really wasn't that drunk, from what I could tel. He was just pissed off and stupid.

Anyways, this is the first time in a couple days I won't see the Cubs in person. DON'T SUCK CUBS!
