Still nothing done yet, huh? I expect there will be some move made today whether it's a trade or someone's sent down to make room for another pitcher. I'm hoping Jones and Izturis are on their way out, but I'm not too hopeful about either one of them being traded anytime soon.

My guess would be Pagan. They said they want a 12th pitcher. It'd be too simple to get rid of Jones or Izzy. Fontenot's been red-hot, and Theriot has done his job (plus the squeeze bunt is helping him). Pagan has made baserunning errors and Derosa could be the 5th outfielder.

Out of all the people that can be demoted, I think Theriot is on the hot seat (but the Cubs would prefer to trade Jones to make room). I don't see Pagan going because Lou views him as the best late inning defensive RF replacement. Pie isn't going down, even though he's struggled offensively, because he makes an impact defensively. Plus, Fontenot is red hot and has now supplanted Theriot and DeRosa as the starting 2B. That leaves the opening at SS and Izturis can't be optioned to AAA.

That would mean that Izzy is our only SS. Izzy starting every day = ](*,)

Ideally, it would be a 10 day situation; after which time Theriot could be recalled.

10 days of Izzy at shortstop is still torture.

With the way Theriot is batting, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Are we certain Iztruis doesn't have options?

I'm looking at the list of players with options on TCR and Izturis isn't listed. Theriot, Pagan and Pie all have 2.

The page was created in Spring Training.

Izturis doesn't have any options.

He doesn't have any talent, either.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen. I'll be here all week.

So who goes down tomorrow if Jones doesn't get traded? I think it would have to be Pie, and that sucks...

Pie's not going down. Pagan would be sent down before Pie, IMHO.

yea, lou said that pie will be back in the lineup tomorrow i thought.

just get rid of jacque...he is too expensive to just be using as a pinchrunner...like he has done

The move will be Dempster to the DL, because it is the least controversial move for hendry to make.

But any trade better involve a relief pitcher coming back. Our pen is running on fumes.

Lou has said he wants to get back to 12 pitchers. Putting Dempster on the DL means the Cubs need to bring up 2 pitchers.

if he cant pitch tomorrow they might have to put him on the DL. Just to bring up a live arm.

I dont think he was disagreeing with that fact. He was just saying that it doesnt fix the problem of having less than 12 pitchers.

it would have been a fitting end to jones' time w/ the cubs had he been nabbed rounding third on matsui's error.

or if he had slipped and fallen halfway between third and home on soriano's single and eventually tagged out

Several sources are abuzz (not to be confused with his brother abuck) tonight that this may be Jacques last nite in Chicago.

SD, Texas, and the BlackSox are the 3 names everyone is repeating over and over and over.

Texas might be the best fit for him with that right field porch assuming he can hit the ball. Plus, they're not going anywhere, so no pressure.

So that wouldn't be his last night in Chicago.

Definitely not. They can't afford to be without Dempster 15 days just to create a roster spot now. If a reliever were to go on the DL just to create a spot it would be Eyre.

It wouldn't have to be 15 days. It could be back-dated until the last game he pitched.

That was still just Friday. You'd be without him for at least 10+ days if you DL'ed him now.

If I were awake when I posted I would have realized that. :D
