i can't remember his name, but who was that texas hs pitcher that got called straight up to the bigs (by the astros i believe). he was some sort of texas hs phenom and they ruined him right off the bat. i think it happened in the 70's.

There aren't many baseball guys that are "famous" when they are drafted to begin with, so you kind of have to go with guys that flopped at the ML level.

 

Football and basketball have lots more. Speaking as a Rams fan, the biggest bust we've had was Lawrence Phillips.

Ben McDonald was the Mark Prior of his day. After he put up a 2.43 ERA over 21 starts in 1990 everyone thought he was destined for superstardom. His MLB career was not bad but it was certainly way below expectations.
