i can't remember his name, but who was that texas hs pitcher that got called straight up to the bigs (by the astros i believe). he was some sort of texas hs phenom and they ruined him right off the bat. i think it happened in the 70's.

I'm shocked that sunnydoo didn't put Corey Patterson, so I'll say it.

There aren't many baseball guys that are "famous" when they are drafted to begin with, so you kind of have to go with guys that flopped at the ML level.

 

Football and basketball have lots more. Speaking as a Rams fan, the biggest bust we've had was Lawrence Phillips.

Has to be the biggest in baseball history.

 

Even though they had a couple big years, if they never pitch again, have to include Prior and Wood on this list.

Bob Hamelin. AL ROY in 1994, played his last MLB game in 1998.

To go along with that, you could throw in Pat Listach. 1992 ROY, and never had another good season.
