What we need more than anything is a set of rules that are easily accessible.

I wasn't really trying to turn this into a federal case. I was simply asking the question since I can't look it up myself.

But, I do disagree that the rules are consistent. If I promote a guy up to my major league team from my minors, can I send him back down to my minor leagues the next week if he still meets eligibility requirements and even though he hasn't actually been sent back to the minors?

I believe the answer is no to that one. Which is why I cut Glen Perkins earlier this year. Can I pick Perkins back up and stick him in my minors?

Which is why I ask the question. You can pick up a major leaguer and stick him in your minors, but you can't demote a guy from your major league roster to the minors. To me, it doesn't make sense.

you can do all that stuff, so it does make sense.

assuming perkins still fell below the minor league limits you could have put him in your minors.

Well, hell.

That's where all my confusion stemmed from.

I dropped Perkins and Thorman this year when I could have just stuck them back in my minors. I thought once you promoted them, they couldn't be put back in the minors unless they were sent down.

I don't really want Perkins back, but Thorman got picked up by someone else. Oh well. He sucked for me anyway.

Brian,

You are right - we need to lay those rules out and I think you were reading an old rule (which I believe I have since deleted). I do plan to do this but I am sorely lacking in time. If you want him back we can probably make an arrangement.

No, whoever picked up Thorman can have him. Salty's going to steal all of his at bats eventually, anyway. Like I said earlier, I didn't mean to make it a federal case.

It just didn't seem right to allow a guy in the majors to be placed in the minors when I couldn't drop a guy to my own minors. Since I actually could do that, I don't have an issue with it at all.

I'm sure we could all help put together the rules, Juan. Let's start a thread that pertains to all the rules that we need to list, and then from there we can create a new thread that incorporates all the rules into one neat and organized sticky.

My apologies for the confusion.

Lets use the rule changes thread to point out errors, inconsistencies, and omissions and possibly ambiguities, nitpicks, and picnits. Also nimrods and nimtodds.

OMG Halladay. Jesus!

My hitters are 5-7 so far today with 2 doubles, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 4 runs scored, and my team has scored -6.25 points for the day.

Thanks Roy.

-25.75

Anybody ever have a worse score than that?

I think I had a reliever, Jones, beat that is less than an innings worth of work.

Nice pitching day for me. A good start from Moyer, and all three of my relievers pitch, combining for just over 25 points. Dishmans have Vargas (5 points) in the lineup and Hirsh (16.5 points) on the bench. As a result I lead by over 30, plus I have a one pitching start advantage (6 to 5) remaining. The Dishmans have their work cut out for them.

46.5 from CC.

And a 37 point game from Escobar put me back ahead. I thought for sure I was gonna have a huge deficit after I saw CC pitched a SO. But Escobar came up big as did my offense.

Yeah, I didn't realize Escobar was on your squad till I checked the scoreboard...that was deflating after seeing how well CC did.

Damn, I needed more than a single-digit effort from Lackey.

You're lucky he made it thru 7. He had a good shot at negative points.

His former teammate, Washburn, actually did put up negative points. Fortunately I had strong outings from El Duque and Webb to make up for it.

Wow. Carl Crawford going for the best offensive week of the year.

The high for a single week by an offensive player was set last week by Gary Sheffield with 48.25 points. ARod and Prince Fielder had monster weeks in week 3 and 5 respectively, with 47. I thought for sure one of them had the high.

But Crawford is at 34.25 points halfway thru 4 games this week. He's vs. the Marlins this weekend in a great triples park.

I'm rather glad that Schilling did not get that last out...

Interesting night for Cole Hamels. Gives up all 3 ERs on back-to-back-to-back HRs. Delgado (Stealth), Wright (me), Loduca all hit solo shots.

With 0 of those HRs= + 14.25 for my team.

Without Delgado HR= -6 for his team, +4.75 for my team.

Without Wright HR= -1.25 points for my team

My offense is gonna really have to keep it going this weekend. I'm down 5 starts to 3 (or 4 if I want to throw a crappy pitcher vs. the Indians).

Was out of town and that will cost me 1 start. I had the lineup set but Clemens getting 1 start this week will leave me down 7-6 in the start column. On another note, being down nearly 20 points in the RP column doesn't help either.
