I'm surprised to see Piniella up in the box. I would have expected him to be closer to the field.

Um, that's a really tough play to make. The ball was called for UP, not in the dirt.

As a major league catcher, you have to stop that. And it's not like it's a rare occurence or anything. That's his 8th passed ball of the year. Keep in mind it's only June 3rd.

What?! Marquis missed by 3 feet. You stop a 90 mph pitch where you transition your wrist completely the other way.

Barrett hasn't looked good behind the plate this year, but I'd be inclined to agree if you were to suggest that many of his defensive miscues have been at least partially due to the pitching staff.

I was just talking about that one play. It's not as easy as some people are suggesting, even for a ML catcher.

not saying that barrett shouldn't have caught that, but marquis missed his spot by literally five feet.

why does jones look like he's never played baseball before -- on the field and at the plate?

I'm really souring on Barrett
Barret looks worse than he ever has.. I thought he was supposed to continue to get better?.

Yeah, I was agreeing with you.

Hell, I had a hard time making adjustments to 50 mph fastballs in little league when I was behind the plate.

Were done..Bases juiced and no one out.

And it's bad defense that started this terrible inning. Granted marquis wasn't able to pitch out of it yet. But he was robbed 1 out. maybe 2.

he missed by more than three feet. barrett was half standing with the glove at his face, and the ball was nearly in the dirt.

marquis is beyond lucky so far tonight.
