Many deserving candidates, but ultimately it starts with the Trib, since they kept MacPhail for so long, who in turn kept Hendry, who in turn hired Dusty, etc. Accountability starts at the top.

I agree Riggleman is out of place on this list. I think he was actually one of the Cubs' better managers (at least of recent vintage).

I don't understand why Dusty isn't unanimous. He destroyed Mark Prior, finished off Kerry Wood, and probably destroyed Carlos Zambrano (although he took longer).

Well, because I predicted that would happen before he signed and Jim Hendry still hired him. Dusty was a known entity when he came here. He didn't fool us by all of a sudden doing crazy dumb things.

I love Steve Stone.

I'm not a huge Stone fan, but he's a solid baseball analyst when he's not on a Cubs rant.

OK, I'm able to see it with this link.

Between Baylor and Baker, Hendry and Ed Lynch, the common denominator is the guy who brought them all in.....Andy MacPhail.

that's who I voted for, with the final straw being the extension for Hendry before he walked out the door.

I actually think he did a good job turning around the organization in the 90's, to the point that they were in a position to enjoy great success this decade. But he was the man who hired Lynch, hired, groomed and promoted Hendry, and who ignored the influx of so-called new thinking in baseball. MacPhail set the tone of the organization, and it's the organizational failures that have most plagued the team.
