Considering they'd have no interest in paying the contracts of Zambrano and Ramirez, I'm going to say that's not a deal they'd be too keen on.

pie, cedeno, patterson, veal, fox, murton, holliman, and this years first round pick should do it. besides that i would say not much sence they are not looking to take on any contracts.

Hanley will be completely off limits for at least the next 3 2/3 seasons. He will still be relatively cheap at least until that point, and no reason to trade him.

Cabrera could be had, but I think it would take much more than the Cubs have to offer. Unless they want to trade Hill, Guzman and Pie.

some of you use little common sense when you post these non-sensical trades

He was just asking a question. If you don't like it don't post in this thread.

Can't trade draft picks. If the Marlins want prospects there are many teams that can offer a better package than the Cubs can.

They could always flip either or both of those guys later on. If they got Z and Ramirez they'd be able to try to get into the race. If they weren't back in by the deadline, they trade Zambrano for prospects. With Ramirez they can either trade him at the deadline or wait until the offseason. This trade would make their fan a lot happier.

I would think it would have to be some sort of 3-way deal, where Florida never takes full control of Ramirez and Zambrano, because there's no way they want to be stuck with them.

Exactly.

If they do that deal and within a week Ramirez blows out his knee and Zambrano blows out his elbow, they'd be royally screwed.

There is no way they would trade Ramirez seeing as he is becoming one of the best SSs in baseball and he is still really cheap. Considering they are fielding a relatively competitive team with a really cheap payroll, I wouldn't see a reason why they'd want to sell off their players and threaten to kill the fanbase.

Seriously. They have no fanbase.

I lived 20 minutes from PPS (now Dolphin Stadium) back in '03. When the Marlins got the final out of the WS, I scurried out of my apartment, hoping to hear just one car horn honk, or one whoop of joy- just to know that SOMEBODY had experienced the sheer joy that I have so longed for. Crickets.

Those (expletives) don't have any fans whatsoever. If the Cubs had won the WS, it would have been like VDay in times square all over again- even 500 miles away in small town in Iowa. The jails would've been full of happy fans all around the midwest.

At the bar I hung out at in FL, most of the old timers were actually Cub fans! It was a morge after the Cubs lost. And this bar was 2 blocks away from the hotel where Bartman was offered a lifetime stay for free! Even local hero Jimmy Buffet is a Cub fan. They simply don't have any fans. (Expletives)

(sorry for the expletives- I hope I haven't broken any rules, but I really hate the Marlins!)

The Marlins barely filled half of that stadium even during the last week of the season when they took five of six from the Phillies and Mets to get the final playoff spot. Their largest crowd was 33215 during that week. Then all of a sudden the playoffs roll around and they're drawing 65000 fans. Those "fans" - and that's being generous to them - didn't deserve one World Series title let alone two.

from the Marlins...

Zambrano, Hill, and Ramirez?

I would die to have both of those guys.

Good because unfortunately for you, it would also take you dying.

Seriously ha, but in all honesty we have to trade away everyone on our team to obtain both of them, like they said possibly Cabrera but I dont they ever trade him as well
