Will Bonds take this long to tie/break the record? Will the true Cub fan throw the ball back??? Things to think about. The odds aren't that bad. And our pitchers sure can dish up a good pitch for him as well.

Well, a smart Cubs fan would bring a dummy ball along and throw that back if he/she caught it.

Will be in the bleachers for one of these games. Likely Bonds ties/breaks the record before then. Even so, if he's close he has already said he will sit out and wait to return to SF. I'm sure he will say it's for SF fans, but it's an easy way to duck out of criticism and jeers.

Just me feeling on this: I think the Giants will start holding Bonds out of the lineup on road games when he gets within one of the record.

That's ridiculous if he sits out every road game if he's within 1 of the record. That's putting a personal achievement above the success of the team.

It may be ridiculous, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Bonds.

I can't tell you what number homer it will be, but I can guarantee you that Eyre gives up a homer to bonds :)

Then his manager should insist that he play rather than leaving the decision up to Barroids. The manager decides who plays and when, not the players.

is there a link to where barry bonds has publicly said this? i highly doubt it's true.

I think it depends on the situation, if they're going on a 9-game road trip, they're going to have to play him, however, if it's a 3 gamer then back home for six more, they might sit him. This is without looking at the schedule, mind you.

I doubt we'll have to worry about it. There are 40 games before we see him, I know he just got out of a long homer less drought, but something tells me he breaks it in the next 40 games.

In other news...The sun should also rise tomorrow.

If it is close, maybe we can work out a trade for Trachsel just for the series to come in an pitch - he likes giving up memorable homers...

Yeah, Barry Bonds is going to sit out an entire series because the Giants are afraid people will boo him.

He gets booed everywhere he goes, give me a break.

I have read somewhere that Barry is not going to give any of his "items" to the HOF. I can't find the article, but he basically said he is looking out for himself.

If I were there and caught the ball, I would give it to the HOF just to spite Barry. Or maybe sell it at auction for a couple million.

Well, Bonds has said "I take care of me" so I wouldn't be surprised if he came up with a nagging injury to sit out a few days.
