Yeah, I hope he's okay.

But...........

Hopper is a cheater. I rewinded my DVR to see the whole thing again. Hopper went over to Freel and blocked the view of the umpire while he put the ball in Freel's glove. What should have been an inside the park home run was recorded as an out.

They just mentioned in the Braves and Brewers game that Freel had movement in all his limbs and his neck. He's awake. Guess he's just complaining of being very sore. Looks like he dodged a bullet.

And that's a classless move by Hopper.
I hope the retards at ESPN pick that up and expose him.

Sounds like Freel's going to be okay, thank goodness...

XRays and scans came back negative.

i would hope the doctors would have him stay in the hospital for the night under observation.

I recall a play from the 80s when Andre Dawson made a running catch but got hurt on the catch. I can't recall who the other outfielder was, maybe Dave Martinez? Martinez took the ball out of Dawson's glove and threw it in while the Hawk was laid out. It was called a hit instead of an out because the outfielder who made the catch has to take the ball out of his own glove. I'm pretty sure I recall that incident correctly. If I am, then either they changed the rule since then, or that should have been a hit.

If you get caught, you ain't tryin' hard enough.

Man that is great.

Imagine the presence of mind that Hopper had to do that.

One of your teammates is down, you did it, and you had the sense to go to him ask him that he is OK and put the ball in the glove at the same time.

That is good stuff.

What would be even better is if he asked Freel if he was OK and Freel responded, "dude, put the ball in my glove."

Bush League or not, I think it's pretty awesome.

I mean, seriously, the guy held onto the ball after a pretty violent collision.

While playing SS at age 12, I went for a ball in short left, dove backwards, hit my head and was knocked out. First thing I remember was my Dad/coach in the dugout, but everyone told me the first thing I asked when I came to was, "Did I hold on?" And I did.

Hopper should be suspended.

That seems a bit extreme.

Usually. Is this situation covered in the rule book?

That's pretty extreme. Should we suspend a hitter who pretends an inside pitch hits them? What about an outfielder who tries to sell that he caught the ball when he really trapped it? I'm not upset at all about what Hopper did, it falls under gamesmanship to me.

I wasnt saying I thought he should be suspended, just saying how some people could think he deserves it.

My thoughts exactly. He DID catch it. Not like he didn't catch it and was trying to be sly about it.

Understandable, I was speaking more to the point as a whole than to any particular person.
